1936. I was born the same year as Hoover Dam, the Oakland bay bridge (5 months into '37 came the Golden Gate bridge) "Gone with the Wind" is published.
 

  • Rosa Parks, an African-American bus passenger, is arrested after refusing to give up her bus seat to a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama.

  • The United States begins its involvement in the Vietnam conflict.

Ruth Ellis the last woman in England to be executed is hung at Holloway Prison

In May, in Brown v board of education, school segregation was deemed unconstitutional

The Queen made her first visit to Australia.
 
I don't know but they used to call me "square eyes". because I was the first one brought up on television from a young age. TV became an automatic babysitter. Mum must have been relieved.
