What movie makes you cry?

I found West side story a tad boring, and I've never seen one that made me want to cry. I have watched ones that made me laugh and cheer.
Just as strong an emotion as crying. Ever seen 'The Book of Mormon'? It's so funny it should carry a heath warning.

Imitation of Life with Lana Turner & Susan Kohner made me cry hysterically at the end. It was 1959 so I was approximately 10. My sister, four & a half years older than me was so embarrassed she left me alone blubbering & sobbing in the theatre. Found her eventually waiting outside for me. She wasn't allowed to leave me on my own.

I'm a movie crier.

Two movies in particular made me cry so hard, I couldn't talk for quite a time afterward. One was Schindler's List and the other one was Ladder 49. I walked out of the theater after both of those movies with my throat clenched like someone was strangling me.

I'm sure there are more of them that I can't remember at the moment, but those two stand out.

I remember my grandmother and mother telling me that the most popular movies during the Depression and WWII weren't necessarily the comedic ones, but the tear-jerkers. It seemed strange to deliberately go to a sad movie during rough times but it must have been cathartic. You had to be so brave all the time, but at the movies you could cry to your heart's content.

Cry? None that come to mind.

However, there is a Japanese horror movie called Dark Water that was a really impactful film.

Along with that, Paris, Texas is a great movie, and Nastassja Kinski was one of the most beautiful women of all time (imo).

Finally, another Japanese movie called "The Isle" is also incredibly special.
