What song takes you way back to the first time you heard it?

Every time I hear "Tears of a Clown" by Smokey & the Miracles, I go right back to Dave's Bar on Bleeker Street, NYC in 1969. I was in the Navy and that was our hang out. Dave's had this huge jukebox with great sound. I remember walking into the bar and the song started up. Now, when I hear that song, I'm standing there in front of that jukebox and it's 1969.

"Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads. I was driving to school and the DJ on the local FM album rock station mentioned a song from a new band called Talking Heads. I was hooked the moment I heard the intro. Little did I know at the time that Talking Heads would end up being one of my favorite bands.

Butter Boy by Fanny

Sitting in the barber's chair. I heard the first few lines, then the barber started in with the clippers and then that was all I heard. Never heard that song again on the air, and it took years to find out what it was.

I was in the house of friends of my parents, being looked after while my parents were at work. I remember the curtains being drawn as it was dark outside, so it must have been winter.

The two teenage girls of the household put a record on the player. My attention was immediately captured by the song because it started with a siren. When the record ended, they played it again, and again, and again, and... well you get the idea.

I must have been about 5 years old at the time. The song was "Blockbuster" by Sweet. Apparently, it was at number one in the UK charts at the time:
