What State Were You Born In & What State(s) Did You Move To?

Born in NYC, left for California as soon as I graduated, never looked baclk

I was born in a little town called High Point, NC. My relatives all lived in NC.

My dad moved us to Tampa, FL with a job transfer when I was 8 y/o. I went to Elementary, Junior High, High School and College there until I moved to South Florida with a job transfer in 1988 at 31 y/o.

I lived in South Florida for 18 years. It was always a dream of mine to be able to afford to live in a "big city". I met my parter there in 1991. We got tired of the hurricanes, the commuting and the general indifference of the people who lived there.

We moved to Dallas in 2006 for a lower cost of living and a better quality of life. My company let me work from home until 2001, when I retired. His commute was reduced from 30 to 10 miles each way. The people in our area are nice and polite and are happy to strike up a conversation when the opportunity arises. We love it here and plan on staying.

Born in Havana, Cuba.
Are you second generation Cuban? I lived in South Florida and have lots of friends whose parents left Cuba under the Castro regime in the 60's. We recently visited Miami and just wanted some good, authentic Cuban food. One of our Cuban friends that has been part of the family for 30 years took us to Puerto Sagua, which is a little hole in the wall that has been there since the 60's. It was great. Take a look at the menu!

I was born and raised in Wisconsin. I have lived in 5 states and 9 cities. I have been to almost all the states. The only two places I couldn’t find my tribe was Texas and Kansas where people are too conservative. I moved to Reno 26 years ago for my career and love it here.

I was born in Manila, Philippine Islands. My ex-pat American family lived there for 10 years. I was five years old when Dad's career took us to the British colony of Hong Kong where we lived for the next 9 years. Then Hawaii for 3 years, then California where I lived for the next 10 years or so. I've lived in rural Nebraska for the last 40 years.
I still think of colonial Hong Kong as my home town.

Oh okay. I thought you would be considered Scottish. I've heard that term used for people who hail from Scotland.
yes I am Scottish, as is everyone born in Scotland..first and foremost ... just in the same way someone from say.. Boston is a Bostonian

.....albeit in the UK.. Scotland and England has borders.. but unlike the USA and Mexico or Canada for example the borders are not manned we don't need a passport or Visa to cross the border.. , we can just drive or walk in because Scotland is governed by English Parliament .. :)

Born at Ft. Gordon Army Base near Augusta, Georgia
Now live in Nashville, Tennessee.
Lots of miles between the two, but the South's call was always strong.

As I like to say, " I'm only here for the Moon Pies and RC Cola..."

My parents were American citizens, my dad was stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Havana. I actually had dual citizenship, but when I joined the U.S. Army I had to relinquish my Cuban citizenship. Either that, or go fight in Nicaragua for Che and uncle Fidel.
Edit:
What State Were You Born In & What State(s) Did You Move To?
To answer the 2nd half of the question- after Cuba my dad was reassigned to a consulate in Monterrey, Mexico. After that tour of duty, he was given a medical retirement due to his progressive eye disease, gyrate atrophy. We settled in L.A. as there were job opportunities for my mother. She worked at several Aerospace companies, TRW being the last.

I was born in Maryland and lived here my entire life. I was born and raised in Frederick County, Maryland. I then attended Frostburg State University which is in Allegany County, Maryland. After graduating college, I settled in Allegany County, Maryland where I taught elementary school from 1981 to 2023. This is still where I live today.
