Like most parents, they didn't know that the thing you vehemently deny a kid is the thing he'll desire most.Your parents failed in their attempt, didn't they?![]()

Well, some people found some of it "offensive." I remember some people (my dad, other kids' parents, for ex.) finding The Twilight Zone offensive; my dad didn't like me watching it, partly due to the so-called "racial agitation" themes on it. But I watched it anyway when I got a chance. There was nothing that was offensive in the 60's on tv. We were allowed to watch pretty well anything.
Well, I don't remember anything on the twilight zone that was racist myself but I could have missed episodes that were. And Star Trek the interracial kiss, well, it was nothing to us. My parents taught us that a person could be purple with yellow polka dots and as long as they are a good person, you respect them. In our family, we're Catholic and Caucasian ( Polish background) - one brother married a Jewish woman and the other brother married a Muslim woman. And nobody really practices any religion in our family.Well, some people found some of it "offensive." Also, I remember the 60s Star Trek series being banned in some of the U.S. southern states due to the "interracial"* kiss that Capt. Kirk and Lt. Uhura shared.
*"Interracial", indeed. There's only one race, for crying out loud, the human race.
No, I wasn't saying The Twilight Zone had racist episodes, what I was trying to say is that some people (such as my dad and some friends' parents) found some of The Twilight Zone episodes to be, as it would be put today, "too woke" and therefore found it offensive to them. Like I remember one episode where it became unending nighttime all over the world due to prejudice and violence. Rod Serling was unafraid of serious subjects.Well, I don't remember anything on the twilight zone that was racist myself but I could have missed episodes that were.
