What things or activities currently popular or in vogue do you have little use for?

This isn't a thing, but I had the females on ads who talk by trailing off the ends of their sentences. Also the 'food insuffiecent' and other similar phrases.
Man , I do agree about the women that talk as you describe ..... it is truly annoying.

As for the overall topic ? ..... Most things.

Everything post smartphone social media related since I've never had accounts. Like I am increasingly on purpose, self isolated from that world. Regularly see news headlines of supposedly well known A to Z celebrities and public people I know nothing about since I have strong self control, resisting Mouse selecting anything click bait.

In recent news, had never heard of the name of that drugged up man that died falling off a balcony in Argentina, nor the British boy band he was in. A decade plus ago at the peak of the Britney Spears popularity, I didn't have a clue who she was beyond news headlines until a gal at a tech corp working next to me explained she was grown up former a child star from a Disney show since I didn't have cable tv.

Posting various bragadoccio on social media. Especially, by those adrenaline junkies who love to free climb wet cliffs, jump off bridges while attached to a big rubber band, slide along wires over 500 foot canyons, ski off Mt. Frozennose into a wilderness area full of broken ice and deep chasms, and other such meaningless activities.

I'll kick it off...smart watches! I have a laptop, a tablet, and a (semi-) smart phone, but I really have no desire to invest several hundred dollars in another computerized gadget for my wrist bound to be rendered obsolete in a year or two, anyways. I find unnecessary technology irksome and annoying. If you have, use, and enjoy a smartwatch, however, that's fine, and whatever floats your boat! It's just not for me... ⌚

How about you? What "must have or must do" item or activity holds no interest or appeal to you?
"smart" thermostats. I am perfectly capable of setting the temperature.

My husband has you beat, David. A few months ago he asked me who Taylor Swift was.

I could make a long list, but for today it's those "sponsored" stories mixed into the news. I start reading those things like, "Her mother-in-law always criticized her housekeeping until THIS happened." The stories go on and on until I start to realize it's all fiction and most of them are appealing to the reader's vengeful or jealous side.

I guess the trend isn't really that new, it's been growing at least since the Post-War 1950s... But I have little use for consumerism. In terms of what I own or use, I've never found purchasing stuff useful for feeling happy or achieving some desired status. I suppose I'm just not a model consumer.

Same here. I don't derive pleasure from spending money. In fact, I feel a little guilty when I buy something for myself.

With no Millennial children, it's understandable that you have none or only passing familiarity with some of these musicians, singers or tv stars.

My parents would have known very few 60s bands besides the Beatles and Rolling Stones if they hadn't raised a passel of Baby Boomers.

My kids knew Britney as a singer and cultural icon, not from the Disney show because they didn't watch it.

I quickly learned who she was when one of my sons plastered her posters and magazine covers on his bedroom walls.
🤣

Through my boys I came to appreciate KORN, Powerman 5000, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Limp Bizkit, Eminmem, The Offspring, and a whole lot of other music I'd have missed, but for them. DD's taste ran toward top 40, so her music wasn't as big a stretch.

I expanded my children's horizons while they expanded mine.

Returning to the OP question - so far I have no need for an iPhone or a smart watch. However, I've learned to say never say never.
