What "trips your trigger" and "floats your boat"?

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things...."

....When the dog bites
....When the bee stings
....When I'm feeling sad

....I simply remember my favorite things
....And then I don't feel so bad! "

"Favorite Things" (1959) by Oscar Hammerstein II and Richard Rodgers

The smell of a hay loft.
The smell of fresh cut grass.
Baby puppy breath and nuzzling.
Belly laugh of a six month old baby.
Imagining space travel through thousands of stars in the galaxy.
Watching a log fire in a fireplace.
The smell of baking bread.

People leaving their Christmas outdoor lights on all day and all night because they have gone off on a weekend or overnight excursion and think their display is too special to be off for one or two nights. It is annoying and trips my trigger. I don't know why except that the lights are all an ugly dim blue color maybe.

Everything that does not float my boat, trips my trigger.
