What TV entertainment provider do you like the best?

I have cable TV with about 80 channels. When it comes right down to it, I really only watch about 10 channels. My idea of high cuisine is something that takes over 4 minutes in the microwave, so that knocks all those cooking channels. I can say "NO to the dress", so there goes another bunch of channels. It doesn't seem like this is a good use of my entertainment money. Also, we are getting more and more centralized, the same mega TV companies, now operate in many nations. What TV entertainment provider do you like the best?

Amazon Firestick or Roku take your pick and cancel cable...

Haha, same here FB...I have Dish with over 125 channels and like you, only watch about 10 of em'....
mostly the ID channel, all the crime shows, Dr. Phil, the History channel and then the 'On Demand' feature has hundreds of tv shows, documentaries and movies to watch...I never view those cooking, jewelry, dresses or appliances shows....they're just ads to make money, pffft....the monthly bill isnt too bad considering I have lots of choices here....

I just go the free/cheap route for my TV viewing. Whatever my indoor antenna delivers is fine with me. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything because the Internet provides more than enough entertainment.

I never was a big TV viewer. ... but had the whole package of what AT &T offers in the past. My late husband wanted all the programming and it cost a fortune each month.

No cable here...One time payment of $49.99 no monthly charges!! Hundreds of channels and movies..

I have direcTv and it has gone over $100 p/month. My neighbors put up a huge antenna for the "old-fashioned" on-air reception. New spin on the old "rabbit ears" . I need to ask them how they like it so far, direct needs to go.

We've had Dish for many years...hub has all the sports channels and don't think they make much at Dish we don't have, except we're going to upgrade to the voice remote - nothing can touch that. Its cool...and the hoppers. Sirius is part of the Dish package and that, alone is worth over 200 bucks a year. Just listened to Elvis Gospel this morning. Gotta figure out how to pipe it throughout the house...lol.

We're "flippers" so all that fiddling with the different streaming services would probably drive us nuts. Hub was an ex football player so sports channels are prime with him. We watch a lot of the same channels, but once I listed all the channels we did watch, not often, but when we wanted to watch them we did. That's what having a "choice" means!

Cut the cable months ago and haven't missed it. Should have done long ago. I use Roku and selectively watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, U-Tube with no ads. There are several other channels available with different movies that do have ads.

I get my news from several different on-line sources - both conservative and liberal - and know that the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

My TV only goes on when I have something specific to watch. If I just need a brief sit-down, I'll find an interesting clip on U-Tube. There is something there for every interest.

Cable company's self-destruction started when they began charging exorbitant prices and refusing to offer a la carte programming. Too much junk programming and advertising was annoying.

It depends on your lifestyle, of course. We rarely watch movies. Netflix is on Dish, but
we don't watch it. I've hear of some folks paying big bucks for a group of streaming channels, too, to get all of what they want to watch. They're figuring out how to game the TV system and its getting pricier and pricier - Consumer Reports says they will meet somewhere in the middle / merge or something. Lets face it everybody is trying to get a piece of the viewing pie, and the pieces are getting smaller and smaller.

Know what you mean by the ads, but I love to flip and see if their sinked in on another channel and use it for bathroom time...lol.

Remember the old days? 3 major channels and maybe 3 cable channels?!

I still have cable. I also have Netflix and Amazon. I get kind of tired of Netflix and Amazon, watch it in the morning but I run out of shows I want to watch. I like cable for the news, weather and the odd show but it's mostly for continuous sound when I need that. Antenna isn't worth the trouble where I live.

Yes, like you...lots of other folks have both. Amazon is going to be on Dish and its funny, talk about merging. When you want the Amazon digital voice boxes hooked up to your tv or sinked into room light switches or whatever, they send a Dish technician to you home. Merging going on behind the scenes big time, I think.

I have a satellite dish, and over 600 channels.... which includes terrestrial channels...

I still prefer the programming on the terrestrial BBC...

Fortunately here we don't get bombarded with religious shows on our satellite channels as many in the USA seem to...

I'm sort of dazzled by all the services. So let me say my viewing habits, and maybe you could direct me to the best and cheapest. I don't watch movies on free TV, especially cable. A 90 minute movie is 3 hours with the commercials added. I love documentaries, historical stuff, science, old comedy shows.

When I visited England, ads were either non-existent or limited. Of course, that was many years ago - 1983. Has that changed?

We often watch ME TV on cable. Lots of shows from the 50s and 60s.

Tried an antenna, no signal at all. Too many big buildings in the way.
