You've made it this far, now what has proved to be the best piece of advice you ever received?

It is no good getting old if you don't get crafty with it.:bigwink:

This was often said by my mother.:)

I really don't recall anyone ever actually giving me advice. Lots and lots of orders but never advice. Perhaps it was a girl I'd been dating when I enlisted who I saw after coming home and was getting back to school. She was in grad school at Stanford and said that getting a degree only means you have the discipline to stick with it. I kinda liked that. Her, too . . .

Mom used to say eat your crusts and you will get nice curly hair, she was right too :)
My best advice is cut up your credit card and just use cash if you possibly can.

Maybe it was advice you were given but you took it as being ordered to do something? Do you have a rebellious side to your personality or a dislike of authority?

For me it probably came from my mother who was big with the advice and adages. But the best would be relating to the need for frugality. Which I ignored and later paid the price for.

Not something I care to dwell on but am thankful I'm able to talk about it . . . sometimes. Once, after my M16 jammed, was told not to fill the clip. That was good advice as it happened a lot.

Read once in Surfer Magazine about staying high on a wave and not dropping down to the bottom. Said that's where the speed lies. Sure enough. Changed my riding a lot and I often actually turn at the top and drive along the lip. More critical but lots of fun....!
