What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

Netflix has finally caught up to me and my sharing w/my nephew. Darn it!

The page was offering up some choices, but I was too groggy to pay attention.
Will handle that later.

***sorry to kinda derail

Not a movie, but a series. I'm watching "Fall of the House of Usher" on Netflix. Not Poe, except for some references, but delightfully evil nonetheless. Perfect for Halloween and well-acted.
I just finished this and liked it. I am a huge fan of Mike Flanagan's work on Netflix and rank this just behind The Haunting on Hill House and Midnight Mass.

Cry Macho on NF. It’s only on for a couple more weeks so if anyone has been thinking of watching it, this is the time. Clint Eastwood was about 90 when he did this. A sweet movie with a little tiny bit of Clint’s toughness.

A few nights ago I watched 'World War Z' - a Zombie Apocalypse movie with Brad Pitt. I'm not usually a fan of either - but this was excellent :)

I don't know if you're much of a reader - but the book is soooo much better. I know this gets said a lot, but the structure is different, and it covers far more ground.

Mob Land (2023)

An okay movie. It's pretty laid back, which given the subject matter is quite an achievement in itself. There's nothing new in the story, and no performances that particularly stand out, but having said that all do well, and it's a dark little journey about what can happen when you rob the wrong guy. Worth seeing, but don't expect fireworks.

Yesterday I watched "Renfield" which is a weird vampire comedy (?) thing focused on Dracula's henchman breaking away from the Master. Lots of weirdness about codependence and knitting that into the narrative, lots of schlocky heavy gore. I now know I wasn't missing anything by not watching it, but if you like that sort of thing I won't warn you off it.

I'm not sure who the target audience is. "Zombieland" was a far better zany horror comedy for my money.

I thought this was a lot of fun. It's twists the Dracula legend narrative moving Renfield into the lead role. I don't think I've ever seen this done before, and I thought it was done quite well. Is it enough to sustain 90 minutes? Probably not. I also wasn't crazy about the special powers and usual martial arts expertise. But you simply can't get passed the Nicholas Cage performance as Dracula. He's amazing in this. The guy makes just about anything, it seems, but he sometimes hits on a good idea, and this is such a case.

Speaking of World War Z, the book was excellent, the movie good, but the audio book was best. It has well-known actors doing the voices, in "real" accents. Very enjoyable.

For those who haven't read the book, the movie had a plot, but the book had "interviews" and narratives from the characters who lived through the zombie infestation. The movie only lightly resembled the book.

Mr. Church, the best thing I've seen Eddie Murphy do, he was good in Beverly Hills Cop but he was excellent in Mr. Church, in my opinion of course :coffee: . Don...

I'm so bummed; I heard Haunting of Hill House will not be coming back, wahhh! (I guess Flanagan's getting so busy, rightfully so.)
Fall of the House of Usher is his last project on Netflix . His next project is going to be for Prime. I hope he got paid a lot more money for the move because in my opinion he deserves it.

October, so The Ninth Gate, a 1999 neo-noir horror thriller film starring Johnny Depp and directed by Roman Polanski
