What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

IMG_5161.jpegBen Thomas is a man on a mission. Giving vital parts of his body to those desperately in need of a donor. Ben meets Emily Posa, a beautiful young woman at risk from a deadly heart condition. As Ben falls for Emily and begins to open up to her, it becomes clear there is something dark in his past that compels him to commit these apparent random acts of kindness.

7 Pounds

This is the second time watching this movie and it was just as good as the first time I watched it. So glad it wasn’t a true story. I cried when it ended. Once he fell in love with Emily, there was no going back.

Re-watched The Vast of Night (2019) again. I love the atmosphere and characters.

Set at the dawn of the space-race, The Vast of Night takes place over the course of one night in 1950s New Mexico where a young switchboard operator and a radio DJ uncover a strange frequency that could change their lives, their small town, and all of Earth… forever.

Only on Amazon Prime as far as I can tell.

Went to see part 1 of Kevin Costner's new western Horizon at the theater. It's a three hour movie with no intermission, but it didn't stop so I didn't notice the time passing. Part 2 will be out in mid-August & I can't wait to see it. Part 3 is supposed to be in filming & not sure when part 4 will be out.

It's a show to be seen on a big screen. I haven't seen a movie made like this is years & I loved it. Can't wait to see the next chapter!

The Duchess - ancient relative of Princess Diana.
The Duchess movie review

If you want to be reminded of why we fought a war to be released from the British system of titles, and if you want to know why feminism was born, and if you want to be reminded of some men you really hate, watch this film.

But, overall, I found it made me quite angry throughout.

When Harry Met Sally 1989
The definitive Rom-Com
The movie that shows even a woman can write like Woody Allen...a lot of insights to relationships.

Nora Ephron started her career writing the screenplays for Silkwood (1983), Heartburn (1986), and When Harry Met Sally... (1989), the last of which earned the BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay, and was ranked by the Writers Guild of America as the 40th greatest screenplay of all-time.

Apparently there’ve been some bad reviews but the ones I’ve heard have been really favourable. They all said the 3 hours passed quickly. I did hear they’re delaying the Part 2 release. I plan on seeing it.

I watched the movie "Gladiator", starring Russel Crowe, tonight on the Sundance Channel. This is about the 3rd time I've watched this movie in the past 10 years, and I enjoy it every time....I think it's one of the better movies I've ever seen.
Maintains the drama all the way through!

Thirteen Lives. Ron Howard, director. Even though I knew what was going to happen because I remember the news story, I was still a nervous wreck throughout much of this film. Very well done.

I can see delaying the release of part 2 since the first installment may not give enough people a chance to see it. So many movies are out a short time at the theaters now & then gone. My husband wanted to see the second part of Dune, but it was gone before we had a chance to go.

Horizon is a movie that I think needs to be seen on the big screen. It reminded me of How the West was Won (1962). One of those big epics that they used to make.

I haven't seen this yet, but I definitely will. I've been waiting for years for it to finally be finished. It's Midas Man, a Brian Epstein biopic:

Summer camp
This is not a personal attack on Tish, but I really hate that Hollywood keeps making the same old, “Old women being children/teenagers in their old age” movie. Hollywood has made several of these in the past 10 years. It has become a genre.

Where are the, “Old women accomplishing major things in their old age” movies? I know - they don’t exists because U.S. Society would prefer for the older ladies to leave the building and go be children/teenagers again.

E.G. Old woman wins Best Director Oscar movie.
Old woman finally gets Teacher of the Year award after 35 years of small town politics.
Old woman runs her first marathon at age 67.
Old woman invests all her savings into creating low income housing for her neighborhood.

Like I said, I am not attacking anyone here or even “Summer Camp". Just pointing out that Hollywood is once again, imitating itself again and again and again.

I AM Céline Dion
It’s a story about her life now living with Stiff Person Syndrome. One in a million people get it and she got it. It’s a very moving film. It’s a brave an honest account of her life. The disease affects every aspect of her life including her voice. It’s raw and honest.

If you are a fan of the Terminator films, you might enjoy A-X-L on Netflix. It features a large, artificially-intelligent robotic dog developed for the military that combines canine bonding with a human together with military lethality. Separated from its developer and damaged, the Robo-dog is blundered upon by an aimless moto-cross biker kid who repairs and tries to shield the extraordinary creation.

While the human characters are not terribly relatable, the film is worth viewing if you are into science fiction, robotics, and futurism. The Robo-dog alone is captivating, and worth your viewing time… 🤖
