What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

Believe it or not, The Wizard of Oz. Possibly the greatest movie ever made, and no doubt the greatest for its time. The scene where Dorothy arrives in Oz and we see the color is literally stunning, and to this day who hasn’t heard Judy Garland‘s rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow?

Never Say Goodbye (1956) - Rock Hudson, Cornell Borchers

Dr. Mike Parker departs California to speak at a conference in New York. A widower, he and daughter Suzy have a deal with each other to never actually say goodbye. She remains behind with Miss Tucker, her governess.

While Mike is having a drink after the conference, a caricature artist, Victor, comes to Mike's table along with a woman who plays piano at the nightclub, Dorian Kent. To their mutual shock, Mike recognizes Dorian as his late wife, Lisa.

Lots of drama and pathos unfold. It even has a small role for a very young Clint Eastwood!

You'll have to dig deep for this one, I can't even find a good quality trailer. I did find a really high quality 720p transfer 3 years ago, which may have been on Vimeo. I suspect it ended up suppressed as part of the 1950s Red Scare.

The Moor (2023)

A horror/supernatural movie about the abduction and murder of a young boy. His body is somewhere on the moor........

British horror film, well made and it kept me watching.

I bought "You've Got Mail" on DVD today. It completes my Meg Ryan Rom Com collection which includes Sleepless in Seattle & When Harry Met Sally. I love falling in love with Meg Ryan and these movies allow me to do that.

I like that these movies tug at my heart strings. I can use that once in awhile.

I fell in love twice in my life. One of whom I married. Neither one was Meg Ryan (sigh). LOL

Watched 'Cold Comfort Farm' yesterday evening.
That is one weird flick, I actually bought that for my library. I give it high marks for being unique. It's strange; I still haven't figured out if it's a good movie or not, but I've watched it several times and still enjoy it. Great cast and some outstanding actors, along side of some unknowns. But I like strange films.

I agree. IMO Over the Rainbow is the greatest song ever written for a film. And I love Garland's original version the best.

"Jonah" (2024)
After an alleged alien abduction of Margot’s son Jonah, Ozzie and Darren, journalists investigating supernatural cases, are determined to expose the truth. During their investigation, Ozzie grapples with his own haunting memories, leading to intense skepticism about Margot’s story.
Not what you might think.

I think I'll watch this.

'Preciate the tip. Watched it the other night, and was surprised at how good it was despite no stars and a very low budget. This one was interesting because midway through it started acting like a crime film rather than a SciFi before moving on to an interesting SciFi ending.

Two movies on the same night - The Last Wave starring Richard Chamberlain and Gulpilil, Directed by Peter Weir.
Also, The Sapphires starring Chris O'Dowd, Deborah Mailman, Jessica Mauboy.

Both movies dealt with Aboriginal themes.
Wow. I hadn't thought of Chamberlain in a long time. He's still alive, aged 90!

I really enjoyed him in the original Shogun (1980). Haven't seen the 2024 version.
