What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

How many days had the park been reopened before the dinosaurs started their inevitable rampage?
No park in this movie. Seems the park closed due to boredom on the part of tourism and the dinosaurs are at the equator, living life on their own. The American contingent went to them to collect medical samples for pharmacy conglomerate.

The latest Jurassic World. Plot stupid and unoriginal but it was scary! Since I'm rarely in a movie theater, the experience was nice. New seats in the theater, recliners. Comfy. Popcorn good. My 7 year old grandson ate most of it! The dinosaurs looked real, except for the last one, who was some type of dino hybrid.
I was just saying to my husband last night, on seeing a commercial for this movie, that it looks like a, light on story, lots of eye candy movie.

Would be fun to see in theaters, though. I love the reclining, heated, seating they have now.

M3GAN II will be out next week, I think. I don't plan on missing that. The first film was a good one. No reviews on the sequel are out yet.
I enjoyed the first one, as well. Planning on catching the second when it comes to Netflix or Prime.

Ice Road: Vengeance starring Liam Neeson.

A ridiculous action flick, well below what you'd expect (which isn't saying much). I sometimes enjoy a brainless action flick, but this was a disaster.

The Sound (2025)

The trailer for this sells it as a Descent type movie, except instead of going down, they go up. However, having seen it now, that's not accurate. The film actually doesn't share a lot with Descent other than very broad brush strokes.

Still, I thought it had potential. I thought it did. Thought.

Things go okay until the final 15 minutes when they appear to run out of budget for SFX. The green screen work is atrocious. Worse, the story takes a VERY strange turn. I don't want to put a spoiler here, but suffice to say, I think the writers let their ten year old children finish off the script. In the end, avoid!

I can't believe they actually closed the park!

Companion.... Weird, cheesy, and surprising. The first 10 minutes, I'm thinking, "This is really cheesy." The characters are like scripted memes, but hang in there. I gets cheesier. At some point, cheese, crosses a line and starts to make sense. Especially if you like weird things. I won't recommend it, because it's probably too weird and cheesy for a lot of people. But I enjoyed it more than most of the crap I've seen lately.

F1 in theaters now...and Rush, both are Formula 1 racing movies. I prefer Rush.
I didn't know about Rush. I saw Formula 1 two days ago. It didn't seem real to me. I'm not expert, but I don't think F1 drivers drive that way. Sure it's dangerous driving at those speeds, but real drivers are good drivers, not punks on main street. I usually like car racing movies.

Strained my lower back muscles earlier this week maybe from jogging towards a bus stop that had me positioning my body in ways that didn't include usual activities like sitting in front of my desktop. So while healing, that has been rapid, watched 3 free online movies after not doing so for weeks.

First was the 1996 blockbuster sci-fi alien war, Independence Day, a film I vaguely recall disliking years ago after release. And indeed disliked it more the second time. But heck, it was almost the 4th of July. This was a film by the successful director Roland Emmerich who has made some films I liked as with Stargate and others very much not.

Especially disliked Will Smith's, Jeff Goldblum, Randy Quaid, and Judd Hirsch's that is on Emmerich tendency to have ridiculously exaggerated nonsense characters and scripting for the sake of target lower intelligence and science ignorant comic book level audiences. Much taken from the Star Wars like film strategy and not Star Trek.

Independence Day (1996 film) - Wikipedia

Second sci-fi movie, 2012, a earth crust disaster 2009 movie, was much worse. Never watched it after release. Only watched it after the above in order to confirm I disliked Emmerich's style. Was a gross excuse to use excessive computer generated imagery in a grossly unbelievable script as though he did so merely to shove it down the throat of critics of that style, as in "It doesn't matter, we make money, haha, to my target audience".

And then last tonight on the holiday while endless loud firecrackers boomed, watched the third sci-fi movie, I also never previously saw, Skyline, a 2010 weird creature alien invasion of L.A film from a group in a skyscraper that I think is excellent. Have not watched the 3 sequels.

So first 2 movies NOT recommended, third yes.

Saw the movie Last of the Mohicans last night and thought it was well done and enjoyable escapist adventure.

But the 2015 movie I Am Dragon which I saw a few days ago was much better. Based on a Russian fairytale with dialogue in Russian so subtitles required. Some reviewers see it as an alternate telling of Beauty and the Beast. Maybe, but I never saw B&B. It is hard to film a fairytale so as to retain the flavor of the genre while not looking dumb. I think it succeeds.

Completely agree with you, but then we were spending time with extended family to celebrate my SIL's birthday and the weather was horrible outside so this was the perfect distraction. IMO it is one of the weakest and most predictable Jurassic movies but it was still fun.

FYI my SIL bought the tickets for the 5 of us and they were over $120! I bought the popcorn, snacks and drinks for everyone and they were $61! I almost fell over when they told me the price. Hubs and I smuggle candy into our movies and I just buy a drink for almost $8.

So great to hear you enjoyed your time out with your family @Pepper! Are you feeling better these days? 🤗
