What was your childhood like?

I am the youngest of six children. My father worked in construction and we moved frequently. As a child I attended 13 schools in twelve years, and we lived in a several places that I never went to school. The three siblings that I grew up with were girl and two brothers were more like uncles because they were so much older. Always the new kid in town I played by myself most of the time while the girls were close to each other. We lived in a trailer house that was home from place to place, and usually in a trailer court somewhere on the edge of town. Despite moving from place to place I always had very good grades in school.

That background instilled in me a conviction to make sure our children had roots and an appreciation of the area where they were raised. All four of our children shared that experience and we are pleased to say that they were well thought of in our community. We made sure they got a grounded faith in God, a good education, and a solid work ethic. Each of them have their own story of success and have passed the tenets of their youth to their children as well. It is a lot to be thankful for.

Pretty decent, both of my parents were career military, then worked for government (defense) when they retired. We traveled a lot and lived on bases and in blue collar neighbor hoods. I didn't find out till I was around 17 that some people don't. My siblings and myself followed in their footsteps. Had ups and downs as usual, but it was nice seeing the world.

I had a lucky childhood; lucky I had beautiful parents and sisters. We lived simply and never craved
any sort of richness. I thought everyone was as poor as we were.
