What was your first vinyl purchase?

Once upon a long ago, when the vinyl discs were the wait and worth saving up ones pocket money for.
Do you remember what was your 'first' or amongst the first you were able to get your hands on?
When you haven't got any Grandchilden it's easy to be out of touch with kid's favourites. I had never even heard of the Disney film: "Cruella," let alone seen it. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that it featured the song: "Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps."
Originally it was a Spanish song which became a hit for Bobby CapĂł in 1947 titled: "QuizĂĄs, QuizĂĄs, QuizĂĄs." 'Perhaps' was my first record and it was sung by Doris Day.

I wish I could remember what it was, but I can remember getting to buy my first 45. I was HOT STUFF! I owned a RECORD and it was MINE! Of course, I had to play it on my parents' record player, but it was MINE!
Yes - In this 24/7, I.T. world of convenience, "those who came after us" don't understand the thrill of first purchase - and then ' 'having to find a player to play it on' - be it family or a friends house (just be very careful when taking it to parties!)
It was; I feel the ownership that gave a 'kind of' independence - as you say
" it was MINE"!

I try to educate my Grandkids - and like it when these 'new' movies have olde tracks in them that I can sing'-a-long to.
However, my eldest Grandaughter (15) is kicking back with Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift (Along with a few more I've not heard of)
  • - That'll teach me ! = LOL

We used to be able to buy ex-jukebox singles. The centre was missing from the disk, but you could get a filler piece for them.
I was into electronics and I made my own record player. The first 'proper' vinyl I bought was John Mayall and the Blues breakers 'The Beano' album.
