This is not news because she is very much alive and may she
live a lot longer.

In another thread I suggested what might happen if Charles
went first, Here is a short video about the preparations for
her passing, keeping in mind that her mother lived to be
over 100 years old, almost 102 years.

Anyway here is the video that might interest you, fuzzbuddy,
you asked, "What will happen when she dies"?

The same is asked here and there is doubt that the Commonwealth
will continue.

Thank you for the video. Very sobering, a day that will come and bring with it tremendous sadiness throughout the World, especially the Commonwealth. She reigns with dignity, and absolute dedication to her role. The Queen is a beautiful lady inside and out. I have followed her and her immediate family since her first New Zealand visit, in 1953.
I have many scrapbooks and biographies.
 
Just wondering - - -

Prince Charles will be 73 years of age in a couple of months. Queen Elizabeth is 95, but seems to be in good health, and could live another 5 years or more, which would make Charles 78 or older on Accession.

Considering what must be done when there is a new Sovereign - - everything listed at the end of the video and much more, not to mention the disruption of everyday life for everyone - - would it make any sense, would it be good for the country, if Charles were to decline the throne in favor of Prince William, thus avoiding having to do it over all again in 10 or 15 years?
 
The minute Elizabeth dies Charles will be the King.
The proclamation will be "The Queen is dead. Long live the King".
"The" King is automatically Charles.
I very much doubt that he will abdicate.

If he dies before Elizabeth then "Long live the King " will refer to William.

The next monarch may choose a different name, including any of the other names conferred at baptism, or the name of a previous king. It's their choice.

Charles cannot "decline" the throne. He has to be declared king, then of course he can abdicate in favour of William.

CAKCy has died! 'Long live the rest of you"

You must choose one and write it out 100 times before you can are allowed out to play on the internet.

Hint - the latter version is shorter.

Sons and daughters of any future UK monarch will have equal right to the throne, after Commonwealth leaders agreed to change succession laws.
The leaders of the 16 Commonwealth countries where the Queen is head of state unanimously approved the changes at a summit in Perth, Australia.
It meant that a first-born daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would take precedence over younger brothers.
The ban on the monarch being married to a Roman Catholic was also lifted.
Under the old succession laws, dating back more than 300 years, the heir to the throne is the first-born son of the monarch. Only when there are no sons, as in the case of the Queen's father George VI, does the crown pass to the eldest daughter.

When King George the 6th died February 6th 1952, Princess Elizabeth became Queen, but her coronation wasn't until June 2nd 1953. It's not something that would be admitted but the long gap between the two dates was to make sure that George's wife wasn't in the early stage of pregnancy. Had she been so and given birth to a son, that baby would have been the monarch. The law of succession equality came into force as late as 2012.
 
There is most likely deep concern amonst the Royal Corgis too.
Who will be the KIng or Queen Corgi, or will they become redundant when our lady Queen dies, will they remain resident in the Royal Palaces, or will they have to rough it with those nasty horses in some drafty stables?
For all we know, they may be formulating their own plans for which Prince Corgi marries which Princess Corgi.
We need some answers here. :)

Thankfully he won't be in charge. The Monarch no longer has any power, it's not like a President.
Whilst I wouldn't copy the French when they chopped the heads off, our monarchy has become an anachronism and it's time for it to go.
 
When the Queen dies there will be a funeral her eldest living son, or as dictated by the current law of primogeniture(which will change for the next generation), will take over. If Charles dies before her that could make state visits to the US by King Andrew a bit problematic!

That's the way we do things and have done, with the odd hiccough, for centuries!

It's not looking good for the poor corgis.

Former royal chef Darren McGrady called them "little yappy nasty dogs." Princess Diana jokingly referred to them as a "moving carpet." Prince Charles is notoriously diffident about the breed, preferring labs. Prince William has said that he would do away with the dogs when he ascended to the throne due to their incessant barking. And in what is perhaps the best anecdote, Princess Michael of Kent once said she would shoot them, to which the Queen reportedly quipped, "They're better behaved than she is."

Gasp!!!! We should be calling for that chef's head, the nasty bounder.
Charles should be sent to his room at Balmoral and told to write 5000 lines, "I must learn to love Mummies darlings."
And that Michael of Kent lady should be made to suffer a month in a ducking stool, there's a good one at The Old Weavers House in Canterbury. :)
