What words are gone from the past?

A couple I remember well.
Bamboozled
Skedaddle
we use them here still.. especially skedaddle and thingamajig..

..however being British we have thousands of years of words which have disappeared ...and many we've lost even just since Victorian times...What gets me is why words which are already in use , are given a different meaning .. and used to mean something else entirely..

ie..

Gay..
Sad
Sick
Karen
Queer
..and hundreds of others...You'd think there would be enough letters in the alphabet to create new words..

I don't know what that means in Canada, Pinks... but here it's used as a derogatory word for people who are disabled...
We used it as teenagers, but I never knew what it meant .. what does it mean over there? I remember the Italian kids used to say "spazzola" or something like that.

My husband just told me what it means. Now I'm embarrassed

We still use those words in the US, but now they have a different meaning... especially "Karen".

In California, spazzy means uncoordinated. My granddaughter Ariel, for example. :p
Also we used it to refer to someone who's kind of all over the place. Not physically, but like, totally unfocused, can't stick to one topic, hard to follow, that sort of thing.

But, yeah, it's short for spastic; involuntary muscle movements; and it is derogatory.
