What would you do if Social network sites no longer existed?

I’d paint more and write some songs.
I’d experiment with food more
I’d sing and dance more
I’d play scrabble with my husband … lol
(He just loves that game 🤄)
I’d write more poetry
I’d write more letters to friends and relatives
I’d carve more
I’d work out more
I’d play saxophone more
I’d get out my keyboards and start accompanying my singing
I’d do more gardening
I’d play with the dogs more
I’d clean the house more
I’d go for more drives
I’d learn tai chi
I’d get my involved in my life instead of just talking about it

Sites like Facebook, Twitter (X) TikTok, WhatsApp and others are like a foreign language to me. I know of them but have never seen them. What would I do without Social Media? Much the same as I do now. My other half and I enjoy the music, fashions and cars from a bygone era. We have many friends who enjoy much the same, contact with them is mostly by text. However one of our friend's son, who is internet savvy, set up a website that we can all refer to, or post on, to see what's happening.

That website is a rich source of whatever is happening, but the best event is always when we meet up, just for chat and coffee. Who needs social media?

I'd miss you guys. I love you all, and that includes the people who don't like me. This is basically the only site I spend time on.

I would definitely miss the ability to research online. I started "researching" as a little kid in my local library. While I loved doing that, and hands-on is more necessary for deep research, touching original sources and all that. That's thrilling. But Google, etc. makes less earnest research so easy, I would really miss that. I love just having a thought and being able to immediately look it up.

I didn't answer the question, what would I do? Basically what I do when I'm not here, only more of it. I might be more bored, but I might not, I don't know. Having a computer for a person with limited mobility is a blessing.

Pepper, you do not need social media sites to do all the research your heart desires. I am always researching something or other, and it has nothing to do with these sites at all.

I only belong to 2 social media sites, and this is one of them. But I would certainly start going to more senior luncheons around here. And ,belonging to a church has given me many wonderful friendships. I would expect, as well, more socialization among my neighbors because, even though this is a farm community, I think almost everyone in it has internet access.

I don't do Facebook. I know people who are on facebook so much that they probably do not get much else done.

There are many videos of people so obsessed with their cell phones, that they fall into pools, or fountains, or walk into walls, or get hit by cars, etc.

This one is awful- the woman lost her phone in an outhouse and when she tried to retrieve it, she fell into the mess below it
but found her phone and called 911 :
Woman falls headfirst in toilet trying to retrieve phone, firefighters help with rescue

If you watch the site that says to click on U Tube, it says London had to put pads onto their lampposts because so many people walked right into them.

I would miss this forum, it's the only online venue that I really socialize on. I scroll through Facebook while watching TV, but rarely post. Aside from social media the bulk of my online activity consists of reading about technology and medical topics.
