What Would You Have With Fettuccine Alfredo?

I have the Knorr mix of fettuccine with broccoli. It's chicken flavored, so may not quite the same as alfredo sauce, but similar. At some point I'm thinking of buying alfredo sauce and adding it to my pasta, perhaps with imitation crab meat, since I no longer eat shrimp. Have you ever made fettucine alfredo? What did you have with it? Any ideas welcome. BTW...I'm a lazy cook, so won't be making homemade sauce.

I used to make it for a friend I was taking care of as a special dinner. Normally I would add chicken and shrimp for the protein. The main thing I added though was a wide assortment of veggies. Mushrooms, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, onions, red and yellow peppers. Of course, he did get fettuccine but he was diabetic, so he more or less had them as a little fill in.

I used claude.ai to ask your question...

Grilled or blackened chicken is a classic protein to add to fettuccine alfredo. The chicken would go well with the chicken flavoring in your Knorr mix.

As you mentioned, imitation crab or real lump crab meat can make a delicious seafood alfredo.

Sauteed shrimp is another popular alfredo addition, but understandable if you're avoiding shrimp.

Cooked broccoli or other veggies like mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes can add color, nutrients and texture.

Topping it with grated parmesan cheese and cracked black pepper is a simple way to enhance flavor.

For a bit of crunch, you could add toasted nuts like slivered almonds or pine nuts.

Using a jarred premium alfredo sauce like Ragu or Bertolli can elevate the dish over just the packaged Knorr mix.

The beauty of fettuccine alfredo is its versatility as a base to get creative with proteins, veggies and toppings you enjoy. Even just mixing in the jarred sauce with the Knorr mix could take it up a notch. Let me know if you need any other lazy cooking suggestions!

Normally I think restaurants serve it with pieces of chicken rather than seafood. Grate Parmesan Regiano on the top. A side or starter salad and garlic bread.
They do but Olive Garden also serves it with seafood. This is what I ordered last time we went, but I asked for it to be made without the shrimp. It was good and I'd order it again. But those breadsticks!!! To die for. šŸ˜›
