What's a memory that always puts a smile on your face?

I have a photo on my refrigerator that always makes me grin every time I see it.

My granddaughter was about three and her nursery school class was having a little dance recital. At the end of the dance, each little boy was to come to the front of the stage and make a bow and each little girl was to curtsey. My granddaughter's version of the curtsey was to step forward, grab the hem of her dress and pull the skirt up over her head. Sigh. At least she had on new white panties. Luckily, I snapped the picture at exactly the right time.

I was the area coordinator of BC Special Olympics, We had a floor hockey team and one young man was tiny and fearful yet loved to play, he would cover his eyes if anyone got too close. I went to a night game and promised pizza afterwards . Jokingly I told him if he saw the puck coming his way and hid his face I would not let have the after the game pizza. He had never had the puck before but somehow the puck came to him, everyone screamed Run Rob Run, he went the wrong way but everyone shouted the other way and he took off, the whole place was yelling him on even the other teams families, that kid went like the wind, fell down twice, got up ,kept the puck and got back to it. It seemed an army was behind him chasing him, but Rob kept going, when he drove that puck into the net the whole place went wild, everyone was cheering, the other side were hugging him, they picked him up and ran round with him, he was crying and laughing at the same time. I am crying as I type this.

When they put him down he ran to where I was and asked if he could have his pizza, my answer, yes sweetie, you can have as much as you can eat.

Yep, a great memory, thank you for the topic.

What a beautiful story Jeannine!

I remember one of my clients, a lovely young veteran rendered mute by PTSD: everyone had given up that he would speak again, but somehow I felt he was biding his time. He loved to bake, so invited him over to help me bake mince tarts. While they were cooking I received a call from another client. The young man was left in charge of the tarts. I forgot about them until

I heard a voice loudly proclaiming, "Triple T, it's time to take the third batch of your damn tarts out of the oven. Where do I put them?" Triple T is my nickname amongst my vets. Well, that was the end of him being speechless. Best Xmas present ever.

My first solo flight as an airplane pilot.

I kept saying to myself: "OK, It's just YOU and ME. Together, we'll land back down there intact.

So,Let's DO IT !" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~and we DID IT.

My nieces wedding a few years back. I went to the reception and it was so cute how they danced across the floor when they introduced all the different wedding couples. It was a wonderful occasion. I got to see my brothers who live out of state and my nieces that I rarely see so it was a really nice memorable time all the way around.:love_heart:

One summer day my Mom,Dad, myself and my kids decided to float down the Delaware River on the PA side in an inflatable raft. You drove to a designated spot along the Delaware, dropped your car off and you were driven up stream to the rafts that were all lined up on the shore. You floated downstream until you got back to where you dropped your car off. Usually it took about four or five hours. When we got to the rafts we quickly got out of the truck, jumped in the raft with our picnic lunch, life jackets, and other assorted items we wanted to take. My Dad was last to get out of the truck.. By the time he got to the raft he had a very strange expression on his face. My Dad had a very dry sense of humor so in a very calm voice he said,"if you want to float down the river you are all going to have to get out of the raft so I can put it in the water". I have no idea what we were thinking sitting there on dry land in the raft but I guess it looked pretty funny. We had a good laugh even before our trip down the river. We had a great day.

My late wife worked as a nursing home nurse for 35 years, wearing her white nurses cap every night she worked. Her shift ended at 6am and she put our favorite song on the car stereo, loudly. I was always awakened by the rumble of Eric Clapton's "Have you ever loved a woman" right at the point that Billy Preston's Hammond organ came in, then the garage door would close and I had just enough time to pour her favorite coffee before the song ended and her smile with a kiss came through the door....
