What's for dinner ( or lunch )

Tonight I was going to have chicken drumsticks which I'd defrosted over the last day or so... I usually freeze fresh drumsticks or thighs in packs of 2 in big batches....I'd just put the chicken into the AF.. when I realised the 1/2 size fresh pizza that I;d bought yesterday was on it's use by date for today, very annoyingly, I hadn't noticed .... so I had to cook the Pizza and have that instead, and then cooled the chicken when it was cooked, and put it away for another day

Tonight courtesy, of my BBQ'ing neighbours... who brought me dinner... very tender chicken drumsticks.. even more tender steak, pork chops, ...with potatoes, and pickled slaw and warm pitta bread.....on a HUGE diner plate

Today I had 1 minced beef crispbake for lunch.....

...and tonight for dinner I had the other half of the plate that my neighbours sent around last night . Sadly I couldn't eat the slaw because it was pickled and I don't like pickled anything

I used up some leftover potatoes by frying them with chopped onion, added it to corn on the cob and green beans, plus BLT's as the main course.

I'm going to start actually using my leftovers. Until now, because I can't bring myself to throw away good food, I would push leftovers to the back of the fridge until they went bad and then throw them out.

They are hotdogs dipped in a cornbread batter and fried. They are on a stick so they are easy to hold and to dip into yellow mustard.
I love these. State Fair is the only brand I'll buy. Having said that, did you read that in late September Hillshire Brands issued a voluntary recall on these. I don't think it affected the state I live in. They were products were produced from March 17th to September 26. The establishment number on these packages were "EST-582" or "P-894".

Thanks, TeePee. I did know about it, and I had to throw the rest of my corn dogs away. I'm not supposed to be eating them anyway.

I actually haven't any dinner yet..and it's 8pm...

I've been so busy today in and out of the house..I just never got around to eating.. I only had a cuppa tea this morning before the architect and planner came around... and then after they left I went out....so around 6.30pm I had half a slice of toast... and that's been it...

I don't really feel hungry...but I might have some watermelon...

About a week ago my DDIL made yakisoba (from scratch). DH & I loved it! I took a photo of the noodles, which I duly bought from our Asian market this past week, but I'd also seen frozen yakisoba at Costco so grabbed a package of those.

Last night I had little enthusiasm for pulling dinner together, and also wanted to try the frozen yakisoba before DDIL's version was a distant memory. I stir fried some extra veggies that happened to be have in the fridge (bok choy, zucchini and putbaechu), microwaved the frozen package for 3 minutes, combined the two and voila! Dinner was served.

DH & I agreed that while this wasn't up to DDIL's yakisoba it was pretty darn good. Quick, easy and convenient. I'll definitely keep a box of these in the freezer. The downside - the packaged meal is high in sodium.

When up to the additional time and effort needed to make it from scratch, I'll give that a try.
