What's going on with egg prices ?

Perhaps the chickens in the coop are on strike or perhaps they are protesting some sort of mistreatment by the chicken boss. Why not? Everyone else seems to be protesting all sorts of things these days. I bet the chickens are just fed up too?

Huge demand on their services, poor quality feed and the constant lack of water in the trough is enough to make any chicken ready to "fly the coop." Enough is enough!

I'm particular about where and whom I buy my eggs from for good reasons.

Just hit WinCo $3.48 a dozen MEDIUM eggs. 😳😳 Large is out as is ex large and no more 5 dozen sold. I'm cutting back to a two egg omelette, no bacon 😫😫(Doc says stop) but heavy veggies.

So, fried salad with eggs.....🤔

I'm getting my store order together today and was more than a little annoyed that my medium are going to cost me $4.59. This is the exact same product that was 99 cents not too very long ago.

We live in a rural area with several poultry farms nearby. A couple of years ago, there were always large trucks carrying loads of chickens and turkeys to a big processing plant 30 miles away. In the past year, seeing one of these trucks is rare. Huge numbers of poultry were killed to limit the spread of the Avian Flu. It will be at least another year before the numbers begin to return to normal. Presently, anything less than $5 for a dozen eggs is a bargain.

there's about 18 in our flock and they've been laying pretty consistent about a dozen or more a day... i occasionally butter the fresh warm ones and they keep for a few months this way. there's four roosters so love is in the air

I didn't even see the medium eggs at Winco last week when I was there. I paid $4.89 for Large grade AA cage free. A dozen.

Well, looks like it everywhere. I will count my self as lucky I got a few dozen for just over 2 a dozen a couple of weeks ago. Some of those are in the freezer. I am going to make an egg and mushroom casserole for the next few mornings breakfast. I have a ham in the oven now that I will break down for all kinds of different meals. I think sometimes we over look these items when we live alone. If you find turkey or ham for a good price buy it, cook and break it down for meals, sandwiches, breakfast, soups, casseroles. They go along way when we are watching food costs.

Inflation. 2 years ago I got a dozen eggs for $1. Now they are avg $6-7. I'm going vegan again. But even that is not cheap now, unless you can grow a lot of your own. And all the farm land is owned by Bill Gates He needs it. It is fun to leave sit and look at, so no one else can have any, I guess. Maybe Microsoft is going to build a new OS made of Weed or something. Here in the USA, we are so worse off than we were 2 years ago, it is sad.

The hens and roosters are all transitioning and they are tried of these Cis birds refusing to use their proper pronouns.

This guy has an interesting idea of what is causing the price of eggs and everything else to be skyrocketing. Peter Zeihan is a American geopolitical analyst. He has some interesting things to say concerning the state of the world and what to expect in the future. Joe Rogen did a podcast with him on 1/7/23. The episode is #1921. I found it very interesting and entertaining. If you have a Spotify account you can watch the podscast in it's entirety. If not you can find it segmented on youtube . I think it is definitely worth the time.
