Now his homecoming celebration is cancelled, nice work Mr. President.

HAILEY Idaho (Reuters) - The hometown of U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, feeling a backlash over allegations that he was a deserter, has canceled a rally planned for later this month celebrating his release from five years of Taliban captivity, officials said on Wednesday.

I hope he gets to be charged for leaving his post. (which he should) .Two of his fellow men lost their lives looking for him.

But that's not what you said. You said his dad would have us all killed (Not sarcasm. Hyperbole) before there would be a court martial, which has nothing whatsoever to do with what you just said.

If I was held captive for 5 years and wanted to be on friendly terms with my captors,HELL I would convert to Islam too.(Praise Allah)

I just read a very interesting article that does an excellent job of reporting about the whole Bergdahl episode. It was written by (now-deceased) reporter Michael Hastings, who was killed a year ago in a terrible car accident.
The article is several pages long, but it is very well written, and if you have an interest in this subject; it is certainly well worth the time it takes to read it.

Leaving out most of the propaganda that we get (from both sides of the fence) , it simply tells the story of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, and what has transpired during the last few years, and puts it in the light of a real person, not a political strategy.

Obviously, it ends before we get to the present part of the saga; but it does a wonderful job of explaining the ramifications of the whole story anyway.
Michael Hastings was an awesome reporter, and it is a shame that he was lost to the world when he had so much to offer.

He deserted once. Then sent on Active duty after his sentence.

He deserted again leaving his comrades to defend themselves. I believe two solders were killed trying to find him.
He should face a firing squad.

BDBoop, I agree. He was discharged from service the first time for mental problems. Why was he allowed to re-enlist again to fight in a war? According to the news his parents are practicing Christians, Presbyterians to be exact. To be fair, we know you can't believe everything you hear on the news. Not to be disrespectful to anyone's opinions, but from experience, anything you hear on Fox news should be checked out.

All right guys!!! lets not fight.
As of June 10th,here are the ratings.
CNN fell to fourth place in the 25-54 demo in primetime Monday night, behind Fox News, MSNBC and HLN. The network averaged just 99K viewers while Fox led with 373K, followed by MSNBC with 162K and HLN with 109K.
Anderson Cooper 360′s 8 p.m. broadcast was the highest rated show for CNN in the demo with 125K. The second hour of that show at 9 p.m. dropped to 94K and CNN Tonight fell even further to 79K. By contrast, The O’Reilly Factor was #1 in the demo on Fox with 384K viewers.

Not knowing the whole story, but only what I've read in the newspaper quoted from men who served with him, I think it's best to not make a big "to do" about his homecoming. Let his family welcome him back in their own way but not force the public to celebrate something we are unsure of at this time. I don't think he is a HERO!
