What's your Opinion/Thought on People Who Leave A Mess At Their Table

People that leave a mess behind are ignorant people. These people will continue to exist and multiply, therefore management should recognize the situation and plan immediate clean up for arriving customers.

I think it'll get more shorthanded at the fast food businesses now. At lest that's what a young man at a u-bake pizza place told us the other day. He said the minimum wage raise has kicked in so they are cutting hours so there will be less workers on each shift. I guess that's just for California though. I think it's $10 an hour now but I didn't ask him.

A few years ago, I took my cousin's 2 1/2 year old to McDonald's for lunch. When we were finished, I was bundling the debris up to take it to the trashcan and I looked over and she was pushing her highchair back over to the storage area, picking up stuff off the floor all over the restaurant and putting it in the trashcan, and wiping seats off with a napkin. Everyone was laughing; the manager came out and asked her if she wanted a job. She took his hand, and pulled him over to a corner where there was a broom and dustpan and pointed to it. He laughed his head off and gave her a handful of McDonald toys. She has a great career ahead of her.

Sometimes the employees are too busy, sometimes they are unobservant or just plain lazy. If I can't find a clean table, I mention it to someone behind the counter and ask for a wet cloth. Sometimes they hand me one, sometimes they send someone out to clean tables. They are supposed to use a disinfectant when they wipe down eating surfaces, but I rarely see that happen, and have no way to know if those wet cloths have been soaking in a disinfecting solution, so in any case, I always use napkins as placemats.

Too busy, Lazy & unobservant describes many customers as well. But customer ignorance is just as much the culprit as is poor staff. Knowing someone will clean up after them perpetuates the why bother mentality.
