When Did THIS Start on Xmas Eve?

The 2 kids here just reminded me.

You're allowed to open 2 xmas present on Xmas Eve before you go to bed.

If thats the case why not open them all and let me sleep till 11 am instead of getting up at 6 am.

Must be a conspiracy! My ex-wife's family always celebrated on Christmas Eve. So, I gave into her and we each opened ONE present that evening. But only one!!! Sheesh, with that trend, we'll be opening presents in July...
 
Or, they'll blend Christmas with Thanksgiving, and we'll do everything then. :eek: I know some who open on Christmas Eve, too, and I agree...why not open it all and let us oldsters sleep in?! :p

'Our' Santa usually came while we were at midnight mass when we were kids, but we still opened gifts in the morning. Don't know how it started that they open them the night before.

Some do! An Uncle's favourite comment was "It's Christmas every day around here!" and for his kids it was! Spoilt rotten little sh**s.

Only one time I got to open a present on Christmas Eve, and that was because she was leaving early.
 
We always opened our presents on Christmas morning, but I heard long ago of those who opened their gifts on Christmas Eve. :present:

I never heard of them opened before Xmas morning down here but some Europeans I knew seemed to deem Xmas Eve as opening time. Maybe they meant when they got home from midnight mass or something though so technically.....

Doesn't opening them the night before kind of blow the Santa Claus story apart though??

Di, Santa would be early in some places; later in others - or so we were told. He might vary his route, apparently....he's magical, y'know. ;)


Maybe that Beamer will be there in the morning????? :confused:
 
I let my kids open one present on Christmas Eve. Once they got grown, it was all about Christmas Day. Have a wonderful Christmas you all!
