When did you realize you were getting "old"?

I started going grey in my 20s, my navy shipmates used to razz me about it.

Our kids were not enthusiastic when we told them they are now old enough to live in a 55+ community.

The doctor told me to go to the VA and get some hearing aids.

Must think positive, in another 17 years I will be 100.

Yesterday. There was a story in the news about a person who was hit by a car, and the story referred to the person as 'elderly.' The follow-up story said she was 60.. and the correction said she was 58...
Nooooo, 58 is not 'elderly,' and neither is '60'!!!! :hurt:

For some unknown reason, women are clerks, at the pharmacy, bank, store, everywhere! I noticed I had to say "huh?" whenever they said something. Strangely, one of the things I was taught was that higher frequencies were the first to go with age. It was another clue that I wasn't 18, anymore.

I went on a ride at an amusement park that spun its riders in two different directions, vertically and horizontally, at the same time. It did a real number on my equilibrium and I was a little loopy afterward. I had dinner that night with a doctor friend who went off on me for not realizing I was too old to do things like that. I was a little stunned because until then I guess I always thought as long as I didn't have a hitch in my getalong, I could do pretty much anything I wanted.

I was 22 or 23. A cop stopped me for something—I don't remember what. I recall thinking, "He's looks like he's in high school." Then I realized that I was getting old.

Somewhere around mid-1980's (I was born in 1951) when we went to visit a friend with two teen boys, youngest around 14, call him C. Baseball game on TV and it was a pitchers duel. C was at the age where girls were fun but also "dumb about boys' stuff".

I watched the game for a while, then made some comment about the local pitcher. C turned to me and asked, "So who was the greatest pitcher you ever saw?"

I said without hesitation, "Sandy Koufax."

His eyes bugged out and he said, awestruck, "You SAW Koufax pitch????"
