When do you start your Christmas preparations ?

We didn't decorate last year; will not again this year. Maybe I'll buy myself an apple fritter.

My daughter and I have exchanged lists and I'll be ordering mostly online :)

We do not "do" Christmas either. We do not formally exchange gifts with each other, and do not have people over. I do not decorate, per se, though I do have a couple of ceramic snowmen I put out after Thanksgiving, and I keep them out all winter. I may plan something special for dinner. That is about it. we may spend the week watching holiday movies. In other words, we are a pretty boring couple of old fogies.

I'll have to ask Mrs. L about that. I cook the meals, but she bakes the cakes, pies etc.. I do know that it does contain a deal of Christmas spirit - mostly brandy! Our friends in the village baked me a cake for my birthday, but warned me it was a bit alcoholic - Alcoholic!!!! you could have run a car on the fumes.
It contained so much Vodka (which I don't like) that it was inedible. I told a white lie and said it was very nice.

The Christmas cake just has enough brandy to enhance the flavour and preserve the cake.
Thanks.

After thanksgiving I s'pose

For us, Christmas presents have turned into Christmas presence

The invaluable, turns out, is free

Well, when there's not much family around, there just doesn't seem to be much point in going to all the trouble to decorate with lights, etc. -- and then you have to take it all down again.

Great pictures, Gary.

We've already started ordering things online for our Christmas. Most everything this year will be things dealing with the area we will be moving to next June (next to the Rocky Mountains in northern Colorado). Have already received two super nice kitchen tempered glass cutting boards. My wife loves Bald Eagles, so we got her one with a beautiful Bald Eagle flying on it. We got me the same cutting board, but with a White Tail Deer on it. Have wildlife coffee mugs, wildlife glasses, and a living room rug with a big White Tail Deer in the middle coming.

We want to get these things while my wife still has her job and our descent monthly income.

This will be our last year for the 7 1/2 foot artificial Christmas tree we bought 3 or 4 years ago. Will put it up during the four days my wife has off during Thanksgiving. Will also put up our large Christmas Village that takes up our entire dining room table. Perhaps some décor outside as well. One thing for sure, my wife LOVES Christmas decorating. I help her as well.

May also do some Black Friday shopping, if we see anything interesting. Not "up all night", like we did years ago, but part of it.
