When men were "men"???? Masculine dominance????

From NBC news dated May 30, 2024:

Asked whether he had nostalgia for the period, Seinfeld, 70, said he does.

“There’s another element there that I think is the key element, and that is an agreed-upon hierarchy, which I think is absolutely vaporized in today’s moment,” he said. “And I think that is why people lean on the horn and drive in the crazy way that they drive, because we have no sense of hierarchy. And as humans, we don’t really feel comfortable like that.”

Seinfeld said masculinity was a part of that.

“I really thought, when I was in that era, again, it was JFK, it was Muhammad Ali, it was Sean Connery, Howard Cosell, you can go all the way down there. That’s a real man. I want to be like that some day,” he said.

But he joked that sadly, as a comedian, "I never really grew up,” calling his profession "a childish pursuit."

“But I miss dominant masculinity. Yeah, I get the toxic [masculinity], but still, I like a real man,” he added.

I'm afraid the same here in the UK...... however that said...Sean Connery is listed in that link Pepper posted ..as one of Seinfeld ( who is he btw )?.... admired ''real men''


Well I have to tell Seinfeld that Sean Connery was a wife beater.. and actually proud of it..

Yes. And should anyone dispute...

Connery first made remarks about slapping women when he spoke to Playboy in November 1965. "I don't think there is anything particularly wrong about hitting a woman, although I don't recommend doing it in the same way that you'd hit a man," he told the publication.

Describing an "openhanded slap" as "justified," Connery also said it could be used "if all other alternatives fail and there has been plenty of warning," adding, "If a woman is a bitch, or hysterical, or bloody-minded continually, then I'd do it."

yes that's exactly right... and as I said he felt no shame at doing it...

I'm all for the return of real men ... but hairy arsed Wife beaters can stay sitting down...

I must say that wife beating or other instances of intentionally minimalizing females in general is NOT a sign of masculinity. Quite the opposite. If a man does not respect and appreciate the female role and female strengths, that man is not an evolved person.

absolutely correct... the fact that Seinfeld reveres a man like Connery, might tell us more about him, ...

I believe he presented himself as a sort of avant guardish, intellectually oriented comedian on American TV. His followers made him to be sort of a Goddish figure. Strange gods are popping up all over American media.

Ah yes Paco....my SF VIP antagonist buddy. It means, Paco, to my way of perceiving, that masculinity and femininity are naturally evolved characteristics which serve a purpose in the development of the species. When masculinity is lessened or is prevented from developing or contributing it's purpose, the architecture of the eco system of humanity suffers. When you kill off a number of species from an eco system the whole system suffers. Similarly when a characteristic of the masculinity/femininity architecture is modified or eliminated, the eco system of the development of the species suffers. Very basic stuff.
