When Tuxedo Cats Attack

Actually it's not an attack but rather deep affection...not to mention keeping their tokhes warm. Wish I could take a picture. I'm typing one handed. Stumpy is laying across my "mouse hand" and Ninja is toasty curled in my lap. A thirty pound furball is huge, but that's okay. The extra cat just hangs over the edges.;):love_heart:

We call it 'being aggressively affectionate'. And isn't it a curious thing that almost every cat prefers laying right on top of everything and anything that you might be doing or looking at, be it magazine, newspaper or your computers keyboard?

I tried an experiment when Ziggy did this a couple times. I had just picked him up and set him aside and went back to what I was doing but he returned each time. So I closed my computer, put my notebooks aside and just paid attention to him. Little headbutt, rubbed his chin and cheeks, snuggled him......and he promptly left. Then I reopened my computer, got my notebooks back out and a couple minutes later he was back, laying on my keyboard.....so I did it two more times and each time he left only to return when I went back to what I was doing. I think it's in their DNA to be a nuisance.

EXACTLY! Our kitchen table has a pet bed on the end and usually three or four books or mags I read while eating. Maybe somebody's jacket too. But Stumpy's spot is whatever I am reading at the moment. Easier to try to paw the food out of my hand I suppose...

I once had a house rabbit that thought he was a cat.

If you were reading a book, there would be a rabbit sitting in your lap, leaning on the book. If you were trying to read the newspaper on the coffee table, there would be a rabbit artistically splayed across the paper. Heaven forbid you wanted to crochet or string beads or do anything with your hands unless you were happy doing it over, under and around a rabbit. Watching TV usually meant there was a rabbit fur neckwarmer draped along the back of the couch, chewing on your hair. Whenever he managed to unlatch his pen at night, you would be treated to a rabbit face mask sometime during before dawn.

As I said, just like a cat.....

The cat, now.....he thought he was a dog. The dog wasn't quite sure what SHE was, but she was pretty certain she wasn't a dog.

I always had animals that were a little species-confused.
