When was the last time you slept more than nine hours?

When I was a young woman, 6 or 7 hours were all I needed. Now I sleep 8,9 or even 10 hours often.

I've never slept 9 hours, ever. When my son was an apprentice, I always woke up at 5am and drove him to his job until he got his first car. The habit stuck with me to this day. I used to go for an early morning work with a neighbour and we did this for 5 years until I moved away from the area. I miss those days and early mornings, watching the sun rise is the best part of the day.

Years. As I get older I don't need so much sleep. I like to be in bed by 9pm, but I read until maybe 11pm. I wake by 6a.m I regard rest in bed as the important thing, sleep itself comes if it will and usually I am restless. About 6 hours actual sleep is enough.

However, I nod off several times a day. I can snooze sitting at the kitchen table. Those short naps must affect proper sleep later but I cannot help it!

When I got home from India, I hit the sack and slept like the dead for over 14 hours. The Spousal Equivalent was about to call for Last Rites for me.

I literally had to roll out of bed onto my knees to get up. I was sore and stiff for two days.
That happened to me once returning from Guam, I think I slept at least 14 hours. When I woke I thought I was brain damaged or something, like you I couldn't stand and the world was spinning. Too much of a good thing I guess.

Never heard anyone else say this, but I suspect we are not alone.

Christmas night 1994!

I had been up for 24 hours straight, getting Christmas ready for the kids Christmas Eve, got done just in time for their waking! Stayed up all that day, fell into bed around 9 Christmas night and slept solidly till about 7.30 next morning. It was heaven! 😇It has never happened again even though there have been many opportunities.

These days I sleep 7ish hours but I wake up once or twice a night. Sometimes have trouble getting back to sleep.

Last week.
Normally 8 hours, unless I do a physical activity on top of my 2 hours of daily exercise. Last week I scraped and repainted exterior windows. Old homes need a lot of attention!

Early yesterday morning 5/5/2023, had my lower right jaw first molar extracted. A week ago, the dead tooth from an old root canal below a gold crown, cracked in pieces. No way to repair it, so needed to be removed. Dentist had difficulty doing so leaving a large hole he sutured. Afterward back home from the torture chair, took 800mg of Ibuprofen trying to keep my mind off my aching jaw as novacaine faded while image processing on my computer much of the day, eating little.

At 6pm another 600mg of Ibuprofen and for the first time in years, decided to take an hour long eyes closed soaking warm bubble bath (Avon vanilla cream). Indeed warm soapy water masked much of what was going on in my jaw. Afterward at 7pm, fell asleep quickly in a warm bed waking after 12:30am. After spending 1 1/2 hours playing with my new 1080p digital picture frame went back to sleep at 2am. Light rain pitter-pattering all night. Woke up after 5am feeling much better. So yeah 9+ hours sleep, does an old body good.
