When you reach those pearly gates what might save you?

I suppose all of us can think of some small deed we've done that has helped relieve another from whatever was troubling them, (maybe some will have a host of things to point to?).

I'd say the look of relief when I'd helped a child I know quite a bit about, is something I can say was a good deed done.

Maybe there are other things I've done, but its hard for me to say really.

What would you say you've done that might get you into heaven, (when balanced against whatever shortcoming you might feel you have, or failures to act when you should?)?

Well, I know that Jesus did all that is needed for me to arrive in heaven. All the good deeds I do don't and never will match what He has done for me and many others. That is my take on it. However, I am a person who loves helping people whenever I can.

As someone that has over decades carefully studied the Bible, and greatly wants and seeks eternal life as I greatly value existence, what is required for God's salvation if He and Jesus exist, is at best vague in scripture with conflicting verses that our numerous Christian religions endlessly debate. So even in this information era when so much information and research on the matter is available to anyone from books and the Internet, at best none of can have much certainty regardless of how convincing they sound about having special knowledge. Even if we live like supposed saints.

For Christians, the strongest evidence that eternal life existence is true are several direct statements by Jesus in the gospel of John. Beyond the basic extremely terse Ten Commandments, there are no how to guides clearly showing what behavior is and what is not ok especially regarding this modern science, information, telecom era when life is so much more complex. From what I lean towards, just considering basics that are rather clearly presented, sadly, very few today will make it through the narrow gate. Most people tend to be afraid to even think about any of this and instead are content to spout "they are a sort of good person that does nice things so why won't they get to go? (if such is possible) God probably has no moral logic that he needs to do anything, much less being fair for we Earth monkeys that seem to believe dogma we are at the center of the vast Universe.

Additionally from a science perspective, the most difficult issue is how it might be conceivably possible for we Earth DNA organic creatures to exist beyond death. Everything we logically understand points to dead is DEAD and gone eternally. Step on an ant and it is gone forever. Some will immediately blurt out that God can do so because their religion and their religious leaders relate God can do anything per favorites of theological philosophers, omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence dogma that God can do anything. Middle Ages created dogma that is supported by weak vague scripture that can be arguably viewed as self serving agendas of churches. And from that has arisen a whole industry of fabrication of how all that reach Heaven will be of some ultimate happy pleasant form beyond what we can imagine. Is not in scripture folks.

Now what this person uniquely speculates as someone that studies neuroscience and electromagnetic phenomenon, is that what we intelligent entities actually are as well as all higher animal life, is not the flesh, blood, and bones of our bodies but rather the complex oscillating electromagnetic fields (aka spirit?) inside our brains. And if so, some race of ancient ultimate intelligent entities may have figured out how to recreate those fields in impedance appropriate non-organic containers. They would certainly over infinite past time have enormous reason to do so, not just for we humans but also any other intelligent entities that have ever existed. Even Jesus clearly states, all must die before before being reborn into spirit existence.

I certainly have no secret voice telling me truth so can only speculate about these things given my personal knowledge and logic. Please don't depend on what I say but rather take such with a large grain of salt as possible. You want to begin to know the truth? Then read the gospel of John that I can argue is probably the only fully inspired part of the Bible.

Wow, that’s a mouth full. I’m not sure what you’re hinting at but I think most people have a built-in moral compass that speaks to them.

As Sheldon would say I’m just an engineer but I do have an interest in physics and believe there is more going on than we realized. Consciousness is an undefinable process and is unique across all fields of science. Some fields suggest its just a natural phenomena that occurs when you get a bunch of neurons together. Some even suggest that if we make a big enough computer a singularity will occur and it will become conscious. I think this is all nonsense and I believe the universe is consciousness and everything is the result of that.

There is more that we do not understand than we know or think we know. All the best theories we come up with are just approximations. Relativity and Quantum Mechanics are both fantastic theories but are in conflict with one another – neither can explain the other.

Although I don’t believe in religion I do believe in the universe and it knows what its doing. I’m just happy to be along for the ride.

Information theory says that information is never lost. At one time it was thought black holes broke that theory but Stephen Hawking finally suggested otherwise. So when I pass I won’t need to say anything because the information of my existence will be available forever to anyone smart enough to obtain it.

The Pope said “everyone goes to Heaven”. The Vatican quickly walked that statement back. 😂

If you reach those pearly gates, well gee, you’ve already been saved. 😊

When I was small, I told my mother I didn't want to go to Heaven. It was a rainy day and I couldn't play outside, so I was in a bad mood.

She asked me what I'd rather do than go to Heaven and I replied- Roller Skate, Play Outside, Dance and Sing... stuff like that. Especially roller skate, my new passion.

Her reply was something like- Are you kidding? Why, people in Heaven roller skate all day, whenever they feel like it! They sing and dance all the time and have a ball! It's like a big party!

Suddenly I felt so happy. My mom made Heaven sound like, well...Heaven.
