When Your Socks Get Holes In Them.......

I mostly wear white socks because my feet get really hot.
If I get a hole in one I throw it away.
When I go out I try to wear a color that matches what I am wearing.
If I get a hole in one I throw them away and get more.

My Son will throw away a sock with a hole in it in a heartbeat.
He also will wear two differant socks if he can not find a matching pair.
He says who cares.

I've never understood why socks, shoes, gloves, earrings, etc. have to match each other. Wouldn't it be more interesting to wear one pink sock and one with blue polka dots?
I like the idea but, in reality, if you are young, you'd probably be viewed as a creative genius but, once you have crossed the line, into senior territory, it would probably be taken as a sign that you are losing the plot. "Call the doctor! grandad's wearing odd socks and his earrings don't match!" ;)

Both of my grandmothers had these old fashioned sock darning ‘eggs’ in their sewing baskets but I don’t remember them actually darning or reweaving any socks.

When I was about 12 years old, an uncle who had a lathe and taught me how to use it, let me make these darning mushrooms for all the family, I've got one in a drawer, and I'd bet there are some still existing in family members belongings. 😊

When friends were here, he had his feet on the footstool that I set out for him. She jokingly mentioned that he had a hole in his socks and we’d think they were poor. He put his feet down and never set them up again for another hour. I said I hadn’t noticed.

Age gives license! 😉🤭😂

I suppose I might mend a sock if it was new and I somehow tore a hole in it - but usually when my socks get holes it is from wear and tear and the rest of sock is almost worn out too so time to throw it out

Do you throw them away or mend them? Recently I had two socks (not two pairs) with holes in the heels. I know mending in that area would make them uncomfortable, so I threw them away. I can use the black sock as a spare because I have a couple more pairs just like it. I'm not likely to find a match for the other pair. Perhaps I'll save the remaining sock to dust with.
That's what I'll usually do is save it to dust with.

This was the sock I used to put out for Santa at Christmas, but the mean beggar never filled it.
There wasn't enough space for it inside my bedroom. 😊

At $15 bucks a pair on Amazon some may think they are a little pricey but not when you consider that they wear like iron and never lose their shape or elasticity. Over time I spend way less on socks than I did when I bought the cheap ones that wore out in no time at all.

All my socks are black. That's a hold over from when I was in the Air Force and we were required to wear only black socks. Before that I used to buy socks in different colors and invaribly over time one of each pair would mysteriously dissapear leaving me with a drawful of mismatched single socks. Since I went with all my socks the same color and the same kind those mysterious disapearances have stopped.

One caution, they run a bit small. I only wear a size 11EE shoe but I still have to get the size XL which is supposed to be for sizes 13-15. So if you are a size 14 Sasquatch you are out of luck.
