Where’s your favourite place to take an out-of-town guest?

Niagara Falls IS spectacular. We took my grandmother there in the late 60’s. I’d forgotten about that until today. I’ve got photos of the event somewhere.

Here's some I took a couple years ago. With Covid mandates, the place that's normally crawling with people was all but empty. Great time to go!

Falls on the American side:


Canadian side Horseshoe Falls:


Close to the brink:
Last thing you'd see if you're going over the Horseshoe Falls, a 167 ft. plunge into the Niagara Gorge. Water above the falls is between 2 & 8 ft. deep depending on where you are. Speed of the current approaching the falls is 32 km/h or 20 MPH. No one can swim against that current!

Durdle Door is one of Dorset's most photographed and iconic landmarks. It is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and is an extremely popular beauty spot. This is not one of my photos and judging by the almost deserted beach I would hazard a guess that it was probably photographed during the Covid lockdown. Most days this beach is all but standing room only.

It depends on the guest likes and dislikes, or guest age.
I am in Central Florida. Many guests like to go and visit Walt Disney parks, Universal, or other attractions available to them.
If they have already visited the attractions or have no interest to do so, I take them to discover the nature of Central Florida going through State Parks, or nature wildlife conservation area, or wildlife rehabilitation centers. The beaches either on the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic side are also in popular demand.

That Disney park in Florida was some experience, but that was when I was much younger. The county of Dorset where I live just touches The New Forest on the east side where it borders Hampshire. Our visitors love the forest and it's wildlife. We can be on the coast within a thirty minute drive, but one of the favourite sights that my wife and I enjoy is Sherborne Abbey. Founded by St. Aldhelm in AD 705, Sherborne Abbey has developed from Saxon cathedral to the worshipping heart of a monastic community and, finally, to one England’s most beautiful parish churches. For many, it is still the ‘cathedral of Dorset’ and it's Benedictine heritage lives on in the daily offering of prayer and praise.
