Where was the most boring place you ever visited?

I went on a river boat gambling cruise once with some friends, it was the stupidiest, most boring and wasteful six hours of my life. All the boat does is move a couple hundred yards up river then back, so it's not a cruise at all, plus their was no outside viewing, you were just locked in a can. I'm not a gambler so after I lost $20 in the first half minute all I wanted to do was leave, and of course you can't. Never ever ever again.

Guantanamo Bay. There isn’t much to do there. One weekend, I was complaining about needing something to do. One of the Sergeants asked me if I ever scuba dived. I told him no and I didn’t think I wanted to. Long story short, twenty minutes later, I found myself being suited up to go scuba diving. I was nervous. Once we were in the water, the Sergeant had told me to do what he did. I followed him, although it was my first time wearing and using fins on my feet. They really do help to propel a person through the water.

We only dived to 25 feet, but it was very interesting to see the different varieties of fish in the water. It was a good experience, but not something I wanted to take up as a hobby.

Maybe not boring but under-whelming: drove through Winslow, AZ. Not sure what I was expecting but it didn’t live up to the thrill I expected of being in the location mentioned in the Eagle’s song. But maybe I went through the wrong side of town… didn’t see the famous statue

And no flat-bed pick up trucks either 😆

an old blues singer on the other corner live playing, He was worth the time spent there as we passed through.

If I have to go to one (casino) for DH's choice of must stop and do's, I can't stand more than an hour there.
I don't take a vacation or a trip to sit and play games in a climate controlled environment. I will do it for him,
but if he plans to sit for hours/days in one, there better be something for me to explore while he is enjoying himself.

I found Yellowstone National Park boring. It seemed like all the animals went into hiding while we were there, it was disappointing. Luckily the little town of West Yellowstone had a place where kids could put food out for bears (bears not let loose until the kids were all back out of the enclosure), plus a stuffed moose to take pictures with, and an old-timey candy store that I enjoyed more than I should of.
YNP boring - that's a head scratcher for sure.

I agree. I'm also surprised at comments about Alaska and Grand Canyon being boring. I found the scenery riveting.

For me, the most boring outing has to be museums or sections of museums specializing in antiquities. If you've seen one crudely made piece of pottery (usually broken), you've seen them all. Within 5 minutes I'm late for the door.

When taking out-of-towners to the (otherwise interesting) Getty museum, I tell them if they want to visit the antiquities building, I'll meet them in the restaurant in an hour.

Even the best museums hold my interest for a maximum of two hours. After that it all starts to feel very redundant.
Ditto zoos.

My sister has a sail boat in Greece with a few other couples. They go there every year. They took their kids with em when they were in their 20s, paid the trip for them. Greece is fabulous. I've been there decades ago. What did they do? They sat inside a hotel room all week, gaming.

I was going to an appt with a eye specialist in a town about 40 miles away. The dr's ofc is in a nice town and I saw a sign for an exhibit at the town museum. This was at the height of Downton Abbey fan mania.

After the dr appt husband and I went to the museum and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Some dresses from the time period, odd table dishes and flatware, a few shoes, etc. It kind of made me sick to my stomach.

I told my husband sorry for taking him there. It was just a vanity project for the museum donors. Nothing at all to do with British clothing or culture. Just some items which were made during the same time period. No color, everything in shades of black, grey, and white.

That exhibit might not have been the most boring, but going to husband's parent's house and extended family tested me, long times of just sitting and not speaking, no music allowed, no tv, no anything to break up the hours.

GP waiting room is pretty boring as is the exam room.

I have a friend who goes to the Canary Islands every summer for her holidays.... she has never once eaten Spanish food.. she only ever eats in Cafe's and restaurants where they sell British food....

I own a house in Southern Spain... the house is in a busy village..it's also popular with tourists ..pop around 17,000

The house is on a gated community... with about 106 other houses... with a mix of nationalities... British, German, Swedish, French, Finnish, Bulgarian .. .. and at least 10 % of the people who live there , have never been past the entrance /exit roads to the village ..except when being driven by cab to or from the Airport....so from the community to the village centre which has all the conveniences and bars, is about 2 miles..

These people have lived in the community for years, they all have cars and could easily drive further afield yet have no inclination to ever learn about the Spanish way of life, or meet any Spanish people other than those working in Stores and bars in the village

It's something I've never been able to understand !

That was the same for quite a few people who lived on the Common Defense Installation where we were stationed in Turkey. For the first year and a half, we lived out in the nearest town, Yalova, before being required to move into base housing for the rest of the time.

We traveled a lot but I was astounded at the folks who never left the base. Istanbul was a 2 1/2 hour ferry ride from Yalova. The majority of the members of the NCO Wives' Club had either never been there or had been once on a club outing that consisted mostly of shopping.

The prevailing opinion was "once is enough". What? A hundred times wouldn't be enough.

Once we went on a week trip to Izmir sponsored by the travel center and most of the other attendees headed every day to Incerlik AFB to spend the day and the evening at the NCO Club there. Why?

I don't understand the business if going to a foreign and exotic location and wanting nothing but what you're used to.

That said, I did go to a McDonalds in Mumbai for lunch just for the fun of it and because, after three weeks of Indian food exclusively (though I love it), I couldn't take another bite of it. As it turned out, the food at McMumbai was yummy!

lol...I actually ate KFC in Spain because it was the best KFC I'd ever had.... but of course I ate Spanish food as well...

As for Turkey and Istanbul..even I've been there and I didn't live on a Camp.... ..I chose to visit, to expand my knowledge.. and curiosity ... of yet another country

....I just don't understand the mentality of some people ..tbh..

I would have to nominate las Vegas. I'm not impressed with glitzy lights and lots of sparkly things and, being a native of NSW Australia, I'm not impressed with gambling dens. We have plenty of them at home.

I felt pity for the old woman we met there who came, by herself, every year to celebrate her birthday. I'd much rather have a celebratory dinner with friends and relatives than waste time and money on slot machines.
I can completely relate to what you are saying. I went on a weekend business trip to Las Vegas about 15 years ago. The flight down an back were both beautiful sunny days and I loved looking out the window at the countryside. Flying over the Grand Canyon was probably the best.
I'm not a gambler either but my boss was so in the evening he would go to the casino and I could walk the streets for a bit. Fremont Street is supposed to be a real tourist attraction with all the local zany people and such. All I saw was a whole lot of people that were either drunk or stoned and I don't drink or do drugs so I didn't really fit in. I called my wife the first night we were there and I said to her that if she thought the little town that we went to high school was the armpit of the world I think I just found the A$$ ________ of the world.

I didn't enjoy Vegas, but there are lots of worse casino towns in Nevada, that would have and perhaps should have blown away in the wind other that casino revenue. West Wendover, NV comes to mind.

Yesssss! We used to live in northeastern Nevada and would always stop in West Wendover for a bathroom break whenever we drove to Salt Lake City because it's the last stop before you cross the salt flats. What a pit! I always found it incredibly run down and depressing.
