I have a friend who goes to the Canary Islands every summer for her holidays.... she ha never once eaten Spanish food.. she only ever eats in Cafe's and restaurants where they sell British food....
I own a house in Southern Spain... the house is in a busy village..it's also popular with tourists ..pop around 17,000
The house is on a gated community... with about 106 other houses... with a mix of nationalities... British, German, Swedish, French, Finnish, Bulgarian .. .. and at least 10 % of the people who live there , have never been past the entrance /exit roads to the village ..except when being driven by cab to or from the Airport....so from the community to the village centre which has all the conveniences and bars, is about 2 miles..
These people have lived in the communty for years, they all have cars and could easily drive further afield yet have no inclination to ever learn about the Spanish way of life, or meet any Spanish people other than those working in Stores and bars in the village
It's something I've never been able to understand !
