I was home watching T.V. My son who drove for Coach at the time had done his normal New York City run and left the ground zero area, probably about 15 minutes before the planes hit. He ran inside and told me to turn on the T.V. I sat there and watched in disbelief as the tragedy unfolded. My (future) DIL was working at a school. I called her and kept her updated because some of the parents were coming in giving inaccurate information.
My husband and I were supposed to be in NYC at the Javitz Convention Center that day for a retail trade show. We would have left about the time the attacks were taking place. I didn't feel well and he was running late, so decided not to go. I found out later that my honorary son was supposed to be at the WTC that day but decided to postpone his visit.
My son was very worried about some of his passengers (who were regulars) because they didn't ride the bus for about two weeks. May those who loss their lives R.I.P. And may their families find comfort in the happy memories and the fact that their loved ones will always be honored, their names literally etched in stone for eternity.
