Where you go, there you are

How do you know if you are destined to do something big or small in life. Maybe everyone has a destiny? I believe unfulfilled destinies are not disregarded instead unfulfilled destinies simply run out of time. A person's destiny is the life-force that drive people to do the things they do.

Destiny is the objective by which people exist. Destiny is the compass by which we choose to live.

Is life predetermined? Life is determined by individual decisions? People are born into a mold complete with social genetic DNA influences. I believe a person's original mold cannot be changed, perhaps modified but not changed. Whether I am 1 yrs or 100 yrs everything I think and do is based on the original stuff I was born with. Based on the concept, my identity, my stuff will always be me.

People are destined in life, it's our stuff that determines us.

A wise woman once told me that the secret to living a long life is to . . . choose your parents carefully.
And a doctor once told me that to avoid varicose veins one should choose one's grandparents just as carefully.

At the time I was not impressed because I was very young and pregnant, however with age comes some insight. Our genetics and the circumstances of our childhood play a very big part in determining our destiny.

However, that said, I regard every thing that has ever happened to me has played its part in shaping me for my destiny. Genetics gave me both my abilities and my limitations. I was never destined to be famous but I now consider that to be a blessing. My destiny was always to be a family woman - daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and now great grandmother. My vocation was to be an educator of girls, although when young I rather fancied being a scientist. Now as an old woman I have discovered another destiny. I find that all of my life experiences together with my nature have prepared me for being an encourager of younger women. It is not something I made a conscious decision to do but I find that it flows naturally, as natural as breathing.

If I live another ten years or so perhaps more will unfold so I cannot yet say that my destiny is fulfilled. That is what makes the future is so interesting; it is hidden from us until it becomes the present. And a present it will be, of that I am certain.

Good thread, by the way. Thanks, Mr Ed, for starting it.

The choices you make determine the life you lead. Not saying genetics doesn’t play a part, nor circumstance, but in the end, it’s how you choose to react and the path you choose to follow.

I don't believe in destiny unless you mean waiting for something to come along and acting upon it rather than forcing an event with premeditated consequences.

My mother was very keen on saying "What's for you won't go by you". She was very stoical and pretty much took life as it came. In some respects, your health is determined by your DNA and there's not a lot you can change. On the other hand, life is full of random and unpredictable events and how you respond to them could have very profound consequences.

Do I have a 'destiny'? I could never have imagined the life I have had, but on balance, I think that I've made mainly good decisions when it mattered most.

Consider individual DNA that identifies an individual from any other. It is possible specific DNA combinations given the circumstance by which they are born and live are destined for the life they live.
