Which general impresses you most: Alexander the Great,, Hannibal, or Julius Caesar?

Myself... I'll take General Douglas MacArthur :)

"Whoever said the pen is mightier than
the sword obviously has never encountered
automatic weapons"
He is not on the list and is consequently irrelevant to the question..

I am impressed by Alexander the Great’s military achievements and strategic genius. He conquered a vast portion of the known world, creating one of the largest empires in history, in just 13 years. His tactics, such as the use of phalanx formations and lightning-fast marches, were innovative and effective. He also demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, inspiring loyalty and devotion in his troops.

Alexander’s ability to adapt to different environments and enemies, from the Persian Empire’s massive armies to the Indian and Bactrian kingdoms, is impressive. His willingness to experiment and innovate, as seen in his use of elephants and other unconventional tactics, showcases his creative genius.

While Hannibal and Julius Caesar were both skilled generals, Alexander’s sheer scope of conquests and strategic brilliance set him apart. Hannibal’s achievements in Italy were remarkable, but his campaigns were largely limited to a specific region and timeframe. Julius Caesar’s military successes were significant, but he often relied on his political influence and logistical advantages to achieve victory.

Alexander the Great’s impressive record of conquests, innovative tactics, and exceptional leadership make him the general who impresses me most among the three.
Thanks for not trying to derail the thread by going off topic.

BTW There is a humor section in which to crack jokes provided here. Also, one can post one's own thread involving whatever subject one is interesting in. In short, there is neither necessity nor justification to be constantly attempting to derail another member's threads via posting irrelevant content nor via posting inane off-topic jokes..

What you don't seem to understand is that we don't actually own the threads we start. We are not in control of the thoughts of others. This a discussion forum, not a pop quiz on any particular subject.

Notice how lightening up demands the acceptance of a malicious derailment of the thread.

LOL! Humans are funny!

Basically Murderers. Now in Hell!
Very relevant comment! Thanks for the feedback! I totally agree that these generals were not good people and definitely didn't have God's blessings. However, I choose not to imagine them being roasted alive forever as punishment since that roasting alive would make God seem like a criminally insane sadist unworthy of being worshipped. In fact, to me, he would seem more immoral than the generals that he is roasting alive. IMHO.

It happens from time to time but the earth goes spinning on its axis regardless. One of the questions I have learned to ask myself at such times is, "How much will this matter in a hundred years?"

If the answer is, "Not one jot", then I let it pass through to the keeper.
This helps me maintain my equilibrium and it is a good way to avoid high blood pressure. 🪷

First, I am not stupidly claiming ownership of this website nor idiotically claiming to have the right to control the thoughts of others. Those are your Straw man arguments. I was rightfully expecting the following of simple rules that have always applied to all of the discussion forums in which have previously participated in. Nothing more.

Please note that those rules are provided in order to insure that the comments remain relevant to category under which are being posted. Otherwise the category becomes useless due to all the irrelevant content being mindlessly dumped into it and consequently reduces the value of the website that condones such disruptive activities.

Additionally, I was just recently severely publicly and rudely reprimanded when I posted on the Ear Piercing category and falsely accused of derailing the thread despite fact that what I was posting were not off-topic jokes, nor false claims of being utterly confused, nor references to totally irrelevant subjects, as is being done here. In stark contrast, mine were very relevant. So since I receive that reprimand, and you nor anyone else said anything at all about it, as you are doing now but appeared to agree, I naturally, assumed that derailment was not allowed here. After all, If indeed it is, then why was I being reprimanded? In fact, if I remember correctly, it was you who was reprimanding me for going off topic. LOL! How is that for irony?

Then why were you reprimanding me for going off topic in the Ear Piercing thread and claiming that your patience was coming to an end?
Isn't rather self contradictory

Now you are stretching even my abundant patience.
Do try to stay reasonably on topic.
You mentioned this once, twice is overkill.
Is piercing babies ears acceptable?

Your buddy had the same attitude:

Seriously, WTF. What a strange strange comment.

So obviously it is you folks who think that you control other people's thoughts and own the threads.

I'd be grateful if you could explain how I went off topic.
You were perfectly on topic. Sorry if I unintentionally gave the impression that you were not. Thanks for the relevant participation. :)
