Which musical instrument do you think is the most annoying?

Hey, I love bagpipe music and I'm not even Scottish! For really terrible noise/music my vote is for the following:
1. Violin/fiddle - I should know because in my younger days I took up the instrument for 5 years and never really got anywhere with it. The fiddle played by a good fiddler is a joy to listen to. However, when you are learning it, you drag that rosin bow over the strings, for example E, and it makes a god awful noise. I would compare this noise to a kid in school scratching the blackboard with his fingers.
2. Electric Guitar - Now, don't get me wrong. I'm all for Chet Atkins and Merle Travis. Those guys played beautiful music. What really gets me is some of the modern country music where the guitar just makes a bunch of loud noise. A lot of it is so bad that you can't even hear one word the singer is singing about. These days the back ground "music" is so loud and so awful. That is why in my home I listen to Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline and Waylong Jennings.

 
Music may not always be pleasant for those in the audience, but it is a very beneficial activity for the musician (independent from how accomplished the musician may be)

So we have some who like the bagpipes and some who dislike them,
what is split on, Uilleann pipes and Northumbrian pipes, like or no?

I've never been fond of the sound of a clarinet. Don't know why. It's OK when blended in with other instruments, but a clarinet alone is annoying. OTOH, I like the haunting sound of an oboe.

If I had a next door neighbor practicing the tuba all day, I might have something to say about it.
 
I have to agree with GeeGar and others above, that it depends more on the player than the instrument itself. It reminds me of a friend who, when asked what kind of music he liked, would answer, "There are really only two kinds of music in the world, good music and bad music. I only like the first kind." But it's interesting to see what preferences people have. One of my favorites is glasses filled to different levels to create different notes and played like bells, another is steel drums. And then there is that beautiful little instrument called a Kalimba. I'd like to bring these three together with Jew's harp and kazoo just to see what happens. Could be dangerous though 😂

I've been a drummer since childhood, professionally since age 16. Drumming is primal and fun. I always kept my occasional solo short and sweet, being careful to maintain a danceable beat. The audience never complained.
 
Some electric guitar is okay but in moderation...I don't do loud and screechy
I like all instruments when used at the right time in the right place
