Which would upset you more, if your spouse had an affair with an 18 Y.O. or an 81?8

I think I would be upset regardless of the age of the woman. But I have to say that I'd probably feel better if it was an 81 year old, then I would understand that he probably felt a need to be with her because they connected somehow, and maybe she filled a void somehow as a companion, friend or lover.

Although I have nothing against men dating younger women, or women dating younger men, I think the difference in and 18 yr. old teenager and an 81 yr. old senior is a bit too much. I would suspect that she had some other reason for getting close to him, like using him somehow such as financial gain. If he had an affair with an 18 yr. old, I would think he was going through a serious belated mid-life crisis or he just lost his common sense and reasoning ability in thinking the attraction was truly sincere and real. IMO, I'd think she was making a fool of him at least.

If it was a one time or short term fling with the 81 yr. old, I'd have to have a heart to heart with him and find out what he was missing from me for him to go and be with her, and try to move forward and make our relationship stronger.
 
Speaking of having an affair and age differences.......just from a age and looks standpoint I still can't figure out how Prince Charles thought trading Diana for Camilla was a good swap.

I believe that Diana was deceived which ultimately in the search for some kind of happiness led to her death. Deceived because Charles was already in love with someone else. Whatever you might think of Camilla, her age, or her looks, he was in love with her. What would you think if someone looked at someone you loved and thought how in the world could you love someone like that? Love being blind is not so very untrue.

Personally, I'm fine with my s.o. having an occasional fling with whomever they please...but not at home. That said, if she told me she'd been intimate with an 81yr old I would be curious. I'd want to know why, and what she gained from it. I'm sure I'd learn something.
 
The tragedy with them was that Charles was apparently forced into the marriage with Diana, in order to produce "appropriate" heirs to the throne, when he was in love with another woman. What the women looked like
is really pretty irrelevant. I think the villain was the Queen, who hopefully has learned a thing or two since then.
 
I think Camilla is Charles's soul mate. And she reminds me of Wallis Simpson and Edward's hypnotic attraction. I never thought Wallis was attractive, but she meant enough to him for him to give up his throne. After they married I read she treated him like crap and cheated on him constantly. Re the OP's question, I would rather he had an affair with the 81 year old than an 18 year old. Just like I'd rather he did it with a man rather than a woman. Under those circumstances I would truly feel "It's not me, it's him". No matter what I would get a divorce, infidelity is a deal breaker for me.
