Which Would You Rather Have?

Saw a sign outside a travel agency this morning. Sign asked, which you would rather have, a passport full of stamps or a house full of things?

Not being much of a traveller, and because I love my stuff, it was an easy choice for me.

What about you?

That is an effective sales tool used often by the travel industry .... i think experiences with or without travel are important
Many of planned travel items........ i was not that impressed... often left feeling what was the hype about this place?

i would rather meander through the roads less traveled and so many here do not need a passport for it.
After deaths in the family clutter or "treasures" as some refer to it are a burden on whomever has to deal with all you have accumulated.

Supposedly people are happier with experiences than they are with things, so the passport full of stamps would lead to more happiness. But from my own personal experience I find the process of taking a trip tiring and I soon long to be back home. Then after I'm home I appreciate having had the experience. I remember where I used to ride they had the option for parents to rent a little pony for a half hour to lead their child around on, and so often the kids would cry and cry from fear while on the pony. Then as soon as they were off the pony, they wanted another pony ride! I feel that way with travel.

I don't think I have the patience any more for standing in airport lines. The last time I traveled internationally, I almost didn't make my connecting flights due to the luggage checks after 9/11. Hawaii was exceptionally thorough and extreme. I understand why, but, it was a killer.

I have an ongoing daydream about visiting all our national parks someday. May still get there. :)

I will probably be doing more road trips, once gas prices start coming back down (hopefully). Will probably still travel internationally, but would be staying a minimum of two months to make it worth the effort, and cost involved.
I've done that in the past too..I just take my laptop with me, and stay for a few weeks or months.. .. and it's almost home from home, but with great days out...:D

I'm with the "neither" crowd, at least at this stage of the game. My house is already pretty filled up, and the last thing I need is more stuff. But travel requiring passports doesn't really appeal to me either. This became true even before the current world events. I've decided that certain enjoyments of life, such as energetic travel, going to ball games, and beaches (to mention a few of the more respectable enjoyments) are really for young, or at least youngish people. I've been there, done that, and would rather enjoy the quieter and less complicated side of life.

I don’t want any more stuff. I’ll take the passport. But truly, I’d first like to see more of the USA.

Don’t expect any travel to happen any time soon.
I believe that if our tiny country was anywhere nearly as big and diverse as the USA..I would barely travel out of it to anywhere else... I'm pleased I've visited and in some cases worked and lived in many European countries, I learned a great deal about the history and the culture and the language of some not withstanding.. even bought property in one country... but now at this age I'd like to live in a country where there's vast areas to explore, like Canada, Australia, the Americas..., and never have to leave my own country..
