A few months ago, I put the idea to our church's fellowship leader, and also sent emails to the board of directors of our church, about our having a tree to represent us at the local community center this year. There is a "festival" of decorated trees which civic groups participate, but our church never did before.
I didn't hear anything about it until the fellowship leader announced it at last week's service that they are having a tree and the ladies of the church will be setting it up next weekend. I sent her an email on Sunday after church in which I volunteered help and ornaments. The reply was almost week in coming and she said that everything was set an the ladies had already set a theme for the tree and my help and ornaments were not needed.
Now it was my idea to have the tree, then they went ahead and made decisions without letting me know they were even having meetings to make these decisions. I sent her back an email saying that in some such words, but her answer was that she didn't know what I was talking about saying I made the suggestion, it was the board's idea. I really feel I got backhanded on that. Go figure!
It's not so much that I want public acknowledgement, but to take my idea and run with it, then deny it was my suggestion - it just rankles me.
