Who Are (Were) Your Favorite T.V. Characters and Who Played Them?

I also like to watch "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit".
I like the entire team. Ice-T for his kindness and faithful friendships. Mariska Hargitay because she makes it real and is a great boss. (I would love her as a friend!) Peter Scanavino because he is always so fair in his judgments. I miss Kelli Giddish!

"Columbo" remains my favorite TV series. Peter Falk was a real treasure. It's always a joy to see actors so thoroughly immerse themselves in a character. To have the creators and writers of the series have enough confidence to permit the viewers to witness the crime, thereby eliminating the popular "whodunit" element is admirable. The premise has always been about Columbo's façade as a disorganized, fumbling, nonthreatening presence, thereby disarming the criminal and allowing them to experience a moment of superiority. Of course, the criminal's ultimate downfall stems from underestimating our dear lieutenant. The "gotcha-moment" look on the faces of the many excellent actors that portrayed the criminals is worth the price of admission. That sobering, sudden realization that they've been played like a violin. Oh, just one more thing!

Without a doubt, Tom Selleck in all of his Jesse Stone movies.
I really got into the Jesse Stone series and even bought the two DVD set which is missing only two of the films, I think. Tom Selleck should probably be on my favorite actors list as well. Of course I liked him in Magnum and at the time thought he was the handsomest actor I'd ever seen. Dimples...curly hair...doesn't get much better than that!

@hearlady You are the first to inform me of Harry Belafonte's death! World News Tonight did a lovely tribute to him last night. He considered himself an activist who happened to be an artist. He also had a lot of firsts. I intend to post more about it in what will probably be a thread dedicated to him.

@Mizmo Here in the states, we're still in the first season too. In fact, it isn't over yet. The 12th episode aired last night and if Wikipedia is correct, there's at least one more to go. I would never give spoilers which might ruin someone's enjoyment of a show because I wouldn't want someone to do that to me.

A favorite childhood late 60'sTV show The Ghost&Mrs Muir starring Hope Lange,Edward Mulhare. She played young widow "Carolyn Muir', he played 19th century sea captain, Daniel Gregg
Their onscreen chemistry was awesome, they remained great friends after show was cancelled
Alias' spy series loved Victor Garber as' Jack Bristow' who played double agent
Julianna Marguiles as 'Alicia Florick' in CBS show 'The Good Wife'
Scott Bakula as "Agent Dwayne Pride' on CBS show NCIS:New Orleans
At the moment Luke Kleintank who plays 'Scott Forrester' in CBS show FBI:International

The Seinfeld cast, including some of those who were not regulars, were very good, actually better than Seinfeld, who I would credit with putting the team together, but as an actor I was not usually impressed, although he did have his moments. In Northern Exposure, Maurice Minnefield stood out, and the guy who owned the bar made special impressions on me. Diane in Cheers made that show, and her relationship with Dr. Frasier Craine kept me interested. When Dianne left the show, things got mediocre for me.
Right now I'm really enjoying Bob Odenkirk in "Lucky Hank" .. a great new series on Amazon Prime. I'm a big Odenkirk fan having seen him in "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" .. can truly recommend this show.
I think he has been around for years, but just playing bit parts up until Breaking Bad. At least I never noticed him until he nailed that role as the shifty lawyer. I own the disks of breaking bad, and sometimes I take them out and start at the point in the series when Saul Goodman shows up. Odenkirk may play the most dynamic character in the series, and there's a ton of great characters already in it.

I loved the British crime drama "Case Histories" with Amanda Abbington who was my favorite in the Mr. Selfridge series.

PBS owns me on Sunday night so I love all the Midwives, Mrs. Maguire and Leonard on Grantchester, and "Endeavor," showed me I can swoon over four men at the same time with Morse, Thursday, Strange and Bright.

Not on PBS but still British is, "Detectorists" where the entire cast stole my heart.

Jenna Ortega (and a lot of the other actors) in Wednesday (Netflix); Natasha Lyonne in Poker Face (Peacock); Betty Gilpin in Mrs. Davis (Peacock); every actor in The Power (Amazon Pr. Video); every actor in Hacks (HBO Max); Stephen Root in Barry (HBO Max). Don't remember liking many old shows at all except for Mythbusters (my all-time favorite) and The Rockford Files.

Can;t believe I forgot Anthony Carrigan from Barry; he plays NoHo Hank and is fantastic!

Well, I liked Jon Cryer on Two and a Half Men. Don't like his politics at all, (in real life) but I thought he was a comedic genius!
Never was interested in 2 and a half men but saw him on Supergirl. He played the part of villain Lex Luthor surprisingly well.

@Mizmo & @Rossana The finale of Will Trent airs tonight. Last week's episode leading up to tonight was O.M.G!!!!!

@officerripley My BFF doesn't watch much T.V. at all...she usually doesn't have the time. But she does make time for Barry. A couple of episodes of The Rookie refer to NoHo Doe. I had no idea what that was all about but I guess it's a play on words of the NoHo character in Barry.

I used to laugh about people getting all tied up with characters in a show, but I've been bingeing all 12 seasons of "Call the Midwife" on Netflix and I'm really attached to some of the folks. I get misty when they die or leave or get sick or hurt.

I've never done that before.....
Absolutely love that show! Read the book that inspired it a million years ago.

I gotta say, he's looking better in the second picture, by far.

We here in Canada seem to be a bit behind. Just checked the series and seems the last one I saw was episode 12, Nothing Changed etc... and I believe there are 15 in this series so I have three more to go.
I have it set to record of course
Glad to hear we will have another season.(y)

Well if I go back to my childhood when TV first became part of my life, I have to go with Howdy Doody (played by Howdy Doody) and Buffalo Bob Smith (played by Robert Emil Schmidt) on the (wait for it) Howdy Doody Show! Can't forget Clarabell the Clown (Lew Anderson) either. :geek:
