Who Cares? I Do!

I see the same posting day after day. You probably have seen it too but maybe just ignored the statement. That repeating statement says, "Who Cares?" Well, I don't know. If you think no one cares you better think again! There are a lot of people out there and many of them do deeply care. If you don't care about gender equality there are people out there who do care. If you don't care who gets elected others do care. If you don't care about what the new law that the government has implemented, there are people who do care.

For years I have been listening to the young generation who have very limited vocabulary. There response to everything has been "NO PROBLEM." It seems that "WHO CARES" is right up there in the same category. Some people need to learn how to express themselves beyond mumbling 2 words. If we die after living a long life and failed to communicate with our fellow human beings, we sure have missed the best boat ride that we could have had.

By the way, how do you feel about young people sticking the word "Like" into a sentence repeatedly?
"I went to my friend's house &....like....his girlfriend was there &....like....she's really hot & I like made a pass at her & like....my friend got mad."

I hear you loud and clear about that "like" girl. A few years ago some folks kept repeat the 2 words, "You know." For example: "You know, I went to, you know, the store and there, you know, I saw George." I used to think, No, I don't know. Why are you telling me this crap if you think I know it. I don't know it so go ahead and tell me but don't keep telling me that I know because I don't know. Silly way of talking. Wish those kind of folks went back to elementary school and just learned how to talk correctly.

Taking literally the question "Who cares?" I can testify that caring people are everywhere.

Last Friday I had a very unfortunate accident in a car park underneath my local supermarket. I was turning into a vacant spot and for some reason I still cannot understand fully I found myself surging forward at an angle, damaging two vehicles slightly and just about totalling a third. No-one was around, the cars were unoccupied and I was unhurt. I was quite shocked and went up to the supermarket above to report the accident and looking for help.

Help came in the form of a smallish security man, a fairly recent immigrant from Malaysia who called the manager of the owners of the building. Having left my phone at home, the manager lent me his and stayed waiting while I called the insurance company, reporting the accident and asking for a tow truck. Both men were very caring.

Gradually the owners of the other cars arrived and details were exchanged without any anger. The owner of the car that was most damaged was also elderly and her daughter arrived quite quickly. Quite a few phone calls later two tow trucks arrived and the daughter drove me home as well as her mother. She cared.

While we were standing around waiting people passed by on their way to the carpark lift. Invariably they looked at the damaged cars and asked if we needed help and offered to bring us water. They cared.

Yesterday I spent a lot of time on the phone talking to the insurance company and to the other owners. The car is now being assessed for the cost of the damage. I will have an excess to pay but the other drivers will be fully recompensed because Hubby and I have elected to pay our premiums at the highest rate. We care.

Finally, today I will pick up a hire car that I can drive for the next 2 weeks and the other elderly driver already has her replacement car which she tells me is a brand new Toyota Corolla. She is a lovely lady named Betty who lives not far from me and I care about her.
