Who decided that we Stay Home.

Well, as much as I hate to say this, Holly. I am relying on luck. Lots and lots of luck. We are not permitted to wear a mask, so I pray and ask the Lord to protect me, but he’s busy too, so we’ll see.
OMG OM... I wish you everything you wish for yourself, and whoever your God is, I hope he's looking after you.......and thank you for being someone who is there for everyone else in need ...but I have to tell you, I wouldn't do it, I'm clearly not an unselfish person like you

I really had to think about it and consider the consequences. My wife was totally against it, but I don’t always heed her warnings. I would like to believe that my company cares about me and my fellow associates, but most of us know that many companies do not.

Yeah, I still wonder if I am making the right decision.

Why in heaven's name during this pandemic of an obviously very contagious virus are workers not permitted to wear masks??!! That's just crazy and shows no concern for the well being of their employees.

My granddaughter works at Smiths here so I understand the concerns, but they need the money and, as I’ve said, the virus is not large here. The stores do take precautions, but they do not wear masks.

There are over 4000 cases in PA. However, in some counties there is only 1 case, in others a couple hundred. Oldman, do you know how many cases are in your county? I suppose that would effect the decision on whether to work or not.

Knowing how many cases are in your county might make your wife feel better. Just a suggestion.

No one should be not permitted to wear a mask, since it provides some confidence, although it doesn't prevent anything. The virus can enter through the eyes, as well, which aren't covered. And the masks people are wearing will stop particles; not microscopic viruses. I wear mine when I'm using the leaf blower.

Well, one thing for sure. If the working people don't return to work, and the businesses do not reopen soon. The reaction to the virus / and prevention measures taken against it, will be what kills us. People have to have food, and it takes money to purchase that food. And working, earning an income is the only way to make it all happen......jmo

I just checked and we currently have 54 confirmed cases in my county.

Our county is on a “stay at home” program issued by the Governor. Only those with essential jobs are permitted to be on the roads. Also included is anyone in need of food, medical appts., etc.

Thank you Ronni, did he also tell the Chinese
and the Italians to stay at home, I wonder.

Dr. Fauci didn't need to do that even if he had the authority to do so, which he did not. This is STANDARD PROTOCOL for highly infectious diseases.

The Chinese, South Koreans, Swedes, and some others "flattened their curve" with a fast lockdown (in the case of Sweden, a recommendation to the populace was all that was needed for almost 100% compliance).

Italy and the U.S. will probably end up with a much higher death rate ratio because of the failure to impose a fast lockdown and ramp up production of necessary medical equipment.

Especially for first responders, multiple testing every day is needed to prevent decimating their ranks, as is now happening in both Italy and the U.S.

Nurses Die, Doctors Fall Sick and Panic Rises on Virus Front Lines
The pandemic has begun to sweep through New York City’s medical ranks, and anxiety is growing among normally dispassionate medical professionals.

Without vaccine, doctor’s, nurse’s and other first responder’s numbers will only rise.

I did hear one news commentator say that the President’s medical team were concerned that the young people in New York and elsewhere were not taking the warnings serious enough. They were still congregating together at parties and such.

In Colorado we're advised to stay home and not travel outside our area, lots of fools still going to the ski resort areas and illegally parking along the highways to get there. We can still do needed shopping, go to needed medical services, go out for necessary prescriptions, or walk our dogs in the park and take outdoor hikes as long as it doesn't involve socializing with a group of people outside the immediate family. I drive to the local parks and walk my dog every day, avoiding close contact with others. I'm good with all that, makes sense.

Been ordering food and supplements online and having them delivered or picked up curbside. Today I went to the dentist, that was good, very little interaction with other people. We've been having local 'no contact' food deliveries from local restaurants. I'm content to stay out of the public mix until things settle down with this virus.

My husband and I have been healthy so far, and plan to keep it that way if at all possible. Not going out in crowded places, using gloves when needed and washing thoroughly when home seems to be working quite nicely. It's definitely an inconvenience, but I'm not so spoiled that I can't handle it. Hopefully soon this will just be a surreal memory, until then, we should all work together not to spread this novel coronavirus. If you look at the 'big picture', it's little to ask to do without for a spell during a pandemic or any health crisis.

it makes me laugh at the idea of ''splitting'' from Europe... like we've lifted our Island up, and moved it further along the planet... :D

OK, since you are an island....then you have always been 'split'/separated, from Europe [geographically] correct? And now you are 'split' from the EU as well, correct?

I really only wanted to know why the whole World is
in lockdown, I am an Engineer, not a Doctor and just
wondered why.

Some of the replies seem to be upset
and suggest that I am stupid.

Well maybe I am.

Mike.

No, you are not stupid. This is hard to wrap your mind around. The whole world is on lockdown because as long as you don’t interact with someone who has it, you won’t get it. But we don’t know who has it.

If someone has small pox, you know, because you see the sores and stay away. By staying away, you don’t catch it. Same theory.
