Who is a Trek watcher?

As far as I know unless I'm wrong Star Trek has been the most popular space TV program.
I certainly didn't think that Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers equaled in popularity to Star Trek.
Most everyone I knew watched this program throughout their life. Especially, more men than women.
Star Trek is like a culture we thrived on because we can't get into space. I liked those multicolored shirts they wore.
When you watch the program, it really feels like you're on the ship with them.

Whether you watch Star Trek before or now let's talk about anything Star Trek.
We can talk about characters, or episodes you remember anything you may have collected etc.
The good thing with this is I'm a flexible person that anyone can talk about the original or the new generation or both.
But please don't put anything like Deep Space Nine or other series.

Please just Star Trek and the New Generation only.
Ok who would like to start?
Let's go everyone on a new pioneer voyage where no senior has ever been before 🤣

Me.....watched them all

except Lower Decks.
love the new Pike series.
Next Gen was brilliant and the Original had some great story lines and the communicator was supposedly the inspiration for the mobile phone.
And I have read the question but since Strange New Worlds has Kirk in it and is more faithful to Star Trek style than some other current series and is clearly going to lead a ‘new original’ series perhaps we can include that too.

The Voyage Home (the one about the whales) still gives me happy goose bumps. For me that movie stands head and shoulders over all the rest of Star Trek. And yes I enjoyed all of rest of it too.

September 4-10, 1966, NBC had a special "Sneak Preview Week". It was a way to introduce their new fall lineup of television shows, a week before CBS & ABC did. The logic was if you liked any of their new shows, you'd watch them again the following week, instead of watching the new shows on the other 2 networks.

Well on Thursday, September 8, 1966, at 8:30 PM, I turned to NBC, on local network affiliate, Channel 2, in Utica, NY, and watched the debut episode of Star Trek, which was The Man Trap (the salt vampire episode). Immediately, it became my favorite show. It's still my all-time favorite TV show. Prior to the debut of Star Trek, it was The Twilight Zone.

When Star Trek: The Next Generation, debuted, I didn't watch it for awhile. I found it insulting that they would try to air another Star Trek show with a different cast. But once I did start watching it (midway through the first season), I liked it. But of course, not as much as the original. All of the following Star Trek TV shows variations that followed were much inferior compared to STOS & STNG. I watched some episodes of the other series, but not all of the time, because the interest just wasn't there.

I used to have all of the Star Trek movies on VHS, but didn't buy them when I switched over to DVD. I still have the original series. First on VHS, and now on DVD.

I used to have Star Trek tee shirts with pictures of the original cast on them. Over the years, one of my sisters would give me a Star Trek original series tee shirt for Christmas.

I liked the story lines. I mainly watched when I was a teenager. and into my early 20's that would be 1969-79. I like the Capt. Kirk - Bones- Spock's interactions. The wry humor. I thought the background sets were fun too. I really like the bridge and the two commander seats and looking out the window into deep space....and hyper drive where the stars go by so fast they disappear. The weird creatures and warped humans and species they encountered like the Tribbles.? :) There are some real devoted fans. I mean REAL devoted. :)

I think the way to describe the original Star Trek would be "ground breaking." It brought us out of a redundant miasma of cowboy shows and detective series. It awakened in us the truth that there could be more to TV. Twilight Zone helped pave the way too, but Star Trek did it with a happier tone that left me feeling hopeful after every episode.

I just read that The Orville is out star trekking Star Trek. It started as somewhat an homage to ST. Seth McFarlane (creator and star) has continued to improve the series, now seen on Disney+. The story lines are edgy, socially conscious and heartwarming. The special effects are movie quality this season. It hasn't had the run that ST had yet though. We're hoping for a 4th season. According to the Imdb list, which I don't necessarily agree with, Star Trek ranks #6 but one of it's spin off's is #1. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls095064401/

I watched Star Trek back in the day when it was the best Sci Fi show. I never watched the spin offs mentioned on the list but am now watching Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (still trying to get used to their Spock, who I just read is Gregory Peck's grandson) and have watched two of the Star Trek movies in which I think Zachary Quinto made a good Spock.
