Very well said.I think that you lost those books. They'll never close flat again, even if you get them to dry.
But you didn't lose a friend. Friends don't treat friends that way.
She is wrong. Anyone who gave a damn would protect the books with some type of water proof cover. And if she wasn't a jerk, she would have waited for you to answer the door or pick another time. Maybe she could have texted you BEFORE returning them? You are definitely not wrong, I would be furious.I went out this morning to find the door blocked by a plastic bag of books. I had lent a neighbor books way before Christmas and she dropped them off on the porch last night.
Problem.....it rained and the books are soaked. Not sure what will happen if they can be dried out, pages stuck together???
I sent her a text asking her why she would leave them in the rain. She replied that she had knocked on the door but I must be deaf so she sent me a text message telling me the books were there.
I did not get the message till I turned the phone on this morning. Too late. They were good hard cover books too.
You vote, who is right and who is wrong.
Me neither Ruth. She is at fault. I never would have just left them behind the door even in good weather.
I agree with @Ruth n Jersey. Her duty was to return them to you, not just to dump them where someone could take them, they could get rained on, etc. A late-night text doesn't accomplish the proper communication. She could have waited until the next day.She is at fault. I never would have just left them behind the door even in good weather.
