Who is your favorite singer of all time?

That's an easy one for me to answer. Back in 1970 when I was 17, I heard a woman's voice on my radio that sounded like an angel. It was Karen Carpenter who with her brother, Richard had formed the musical group, The Carpenters. With classics like Close To You and We've Only Just Begun, I was hooked for life by her voice. All these years later, I still listen to all their music. I have all their albums but find their recordings sound much better on YouTube than my broken down record player. It still pains me how early in her life we lost her and the sad events that led to one of the most beautiful singers's life ending so tragically.
Ok, members, I would love to hear about your favorites. I think this could a very fun post as we all look back at singers who made unforgettable songs that madeimages (2).jpeg millions of listeners very happy.

I have no favorite singer. I listen to all kinds of music, but a different kind of appreciation for each. What touches me the most on any given day is highly dependent on my mood at that time. As far as popular music goes (especially oldies) there is one song I like more than all others, and I've posted it before, so here goes again, one more time. [2.18 minutes long]

I have about a dozen favorites. Perhaps the most talented in my humble opinion is Smokey Robinson.
Smokey Robinson and Barry Gordy were close friends. Smokey (imo) with or without the Miracles was a better songwriter than he was a singer. He wrote songs for many MOTOWN singers and groups. One group immediately comes to mind, The Temptations, including “My Girl.” Smokey wrote over 4000 songs.

My all-time favorite Smokey Robinson song was this one.

Mack, I always love when you respond to my posts. I find you always give an interesting response which sometimes are much better than my original question!
I do remember Earl Grant and a song I love called Misty!

I too love a wide variety of music from all over the world as well as genres; rock to Sea Shanties
But this man is my go to, for hope, memories, to keep me grateful and to set my mood for the day.
Morning has Broken is always the 1st song I play everyday.
Cat Stevens

I am a fan of most music..love just about everything except Rap and Opera.... totally love People like Elbow.. and Motown... Mike & The Mechanics... and Country & gospel .... and all their individual singers... but if I had a gun held to my head and was told I could only listen to one singer ever again..it would have to be Barbra Streisand

She's not my favourite singer don't get me wrong.. but overall she has so many great songs.. that if I could only listen to one singer then it would be her... following a close..very close second... would be the Everly Brothers. They were my mother's Era but I still love their music ...then after that probably Neil Diamond
