Who knew Disneyland has a jail?!?

My granddaughter`s class went to Disneyland for their senior trip yesterday/day before. Apparently one of the girls got out of control at the park-was fighting with, swearing at the park employees and then with the chaperones,so she was put in Disneyland jail. Her parents were called and told they would have to come and pick her up(10 hour drive or a 2.5 hour drive to the airport and a 1 1/2 hour flight.) As it turns out,the parents refused to pick her up,saying "You took her-you can just bring her back". She will now not be allowed to walk at graduation and not sure what all else. I don`t know her-small town,I always knew most of the kids-but not this one. From the last name, she could be part of a very troubled family but not sure. I did look at her FB page and she certainly appears to have some issues going on. Rest of the kids are really embarrassed about her behavior though....

Oh my, our 4-year-old daughter was having fun, until one of the 3 little pigs decided she was cute (she was) he started chasing her (thank goodness not a 2-hour chase) . She ran for a little bit and when she was tired of it she turned around and hit the pig right in the snout! That was when we realized she was not having fun. She thankfully did not end up in Disneyland jail.

Have never seen their jail, but I've heard about it ... knew it existed.

What responsibility did the chaperones for the trip have for her behavior? If she was totally out of control, maybe the jail was the only option, especially if her parents refused to have anything to do with it. Sounds like an extremely disturbed family.

But the park officials did have a responsibility to keep the large crowds of people safe. And these days, you never know what anyone is going to do.

My granddaughter says that each student had to sign something stating that any consequences for misbehavior was on YOU so I don`t think it was up to the chaperones to monitor their behavior. Also, not sure if this girl is 18 or not yet-that could make a difference,I guess.

Walmarts have jails. Malls have jails. Heck, a large grocery store I used to merchandise products in had a jail; it was a small concrete block room in the stock area that had a built-in bench and a locking door.

Stores/malls have to have somewhere they can lock up shoplifters, troublemakers, and crazies until the police come to take them away. You can't just sit them down in a manager's office and say, "Now you sit there quietly until the cops arrive." They'd be long gone, along with the manager's computer, long before the boys in blue show up.
