It’s impossible to hum while holding your nose

You just tested it, didn’t you? Normally, when you hum, the air is able to escape through your nose to create the sound, and of course, it can’t do that when you’re holding it shut. This is one of the weird facts you can test out for yourself. Go ahead, try it.

We domesticated the silk moth 5000 years ago for sericulture. They lost their ability to fly, lack fear of predators, & have lost native color pigments since camouflage is not useful as they only live in captivity.

They're entirely dependent on humans for survival, including finding a mate.

The 1959-1963 television sitcom, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis was the inspiration for the animated cartoon, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? They based the characters on the sitcom.

The handsome and heroic Freddie Jones was, of course, patterned after Dobie Gillis, who was played by Dwayne Hickman in the TV series. Bob Denver’s beatnik character, Maynard G. Krebs, was the inspiration for Norville Rogers, better known as Shaggy. The brainy Zelda Gilroy, played by Sheila James Kuehl, was the model for Velma Dinkley, and pretty Daphne Blake was inspired by Thalia Menninger, played by Tuesday Weld.

And cats, oddly enough, can taste it researchers have found. It’s what helps a cat determine if something is “meat.”

Most Korean people don’t have armpit odor.

koreans-odor-fun-fact.webp

Research at the University of Bristol found that only 0.006% of the Korean population has the ABCC11 gene. This gene is the cause of armpit odor.

In fact, the study found that most East Asians don’t have this gene, but Koreans have the lowest numbers. While this may be surprising to us, it’s not big news in Korea, as deodorant isn’t commonly found there!

The tradition of bridesmaids wearing matching dresses dates back to ancient Rome, when bridesmaids not only wore the same dresses as each other, but also the same dress as the bride, in order to act as decoys against evil spirits.

Matching striped frocks and fancy hats were worn by these bridesmaids in 1917.

Those hats are to die for. Literally. As in, the bride would have to kill me to wrestle one onto my head. And the flour-sack looking dresses aren't much better. Egads!
